Is it fard for a person to do ghusl if he is to attend the friday prayer?
The reason i am asking this is because i thought a man only has to ghusl once in a 7days unless they have to otherwise. For e.g. i done my ghusl yesterday which was wednesday do i have to do it again for Jummah prayer?

Yes because at the time of the Prophet(PBUH) there was less water but all the Muslims took a shower (known as ghusl) on this day(Friday) it is sunnah to do ghusl and walk to the masjid.

Yes, it is a sunnah of Rasulallah (SAWS) to do ghusl before jumm'ah, amongst other things such as cutting the nails, applying pleasant smelling perfume...
