orevergeek.com has a useful guide on speeding up firefox for broadband users. basically after getting to the hidden config settings you set the browser to request more data that it usually does.

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0”. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now! http://www.hackaday.com/entry/1234000803024910/

if anyone needs any help or has any questions regarding this please say so and insha Allah we will help. take note - this only works on MOZILLA FIREFOX

Note: it does work alhamdulillah. :)

wasalam o 'alykum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

lol is that legal? ps my ntl broadband speed has like increased by 3 times as much!

Assalamu alaikum

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
I would not reccomend that, please read the following..

baba on Ummah forum said:
I would set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 6 instead (this is the setting on my Firefox now). Too many requests puts a higher load on the websites you are visiting, and if a lot of people do this on a smaller website it will lock visitors out - and that's unfair.

Make Mozilla Firefox much faster

:sl:

For those of us who use Mozilla Firefox over Internet Explorer (something we all should do anyway) I have found a way to make it much faster. The browser will move from page to page anywhere from 2-30x faster than before, depending on what type of broadband connection you have. I have been using it for an hour, and Mash'Allah the response time is much faster now.

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This
means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Thanks for the tips

Re: Make Mozilla Firefox much faster

Bill gates 2nd speaking:

Instead of putting the network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 30....Do 60 or more.....u will truely feel the power :uuh:

Re: Make Mozilla Firefox much faster

:sl:

1. Anything more than 60...are you sure....the greater the number so the greater the speed....so can we put any number like 100+.... :?

2. Do we need to follow all the above instructions (setting of 'true'...etc.) before changing that integer to 60+.... :?
