A US man who answered an advertisement to be a sperm donor has got a surprise Dear Daddy letter - not from the child that was born as a result of the donation, but from the state government seeking child support payments, reports say.
William Marotta, 46, was in disbelief when he got the letter from the Kansas Department of Children and Families demanding $US6000 ($A5758) in child support.
