Statistics revision

to help us with our statistics paper I thought I should make up questions and for those who want to revise...you can answer them.

One question at a time, first topic will be probability.

In my handbag I have 2 toffees, 5 mars bars, 8 cherry drops and 11 sticks of chewing gum.

What is the probability that I pick a cherry drop when I dip my hand inside my handbag? Simplify where possible.

note* I already know the answer to this question so whoever gets it right will be notified as soon as possible and another question will be asked)

i bet that's wrong!

that is correct..now for a harder question ...extended from the previous question.

I ate my cherry drop (not replacing it) I went through my handbag again and picked a mars bar but I don't like it (so I decided to replace it) what is the probability of picking a mars bar for the second time?

note* i hope i haven't confused anyone, if I have please let me know and I'l re-phrase the question, although I am nice in the real thing you will not be able to change the question not even with a magic wand lol :D
 
well ur down to 25 now, and theres 5 mars bars so that = 5/25 = 1/5?

good now lets make it extra harder...

I put both of my hands in my handbag...(hint*this is an 'and' question)
what is the probability of picking a stick of chewing gum and a toffee?

(I promise this is the last probability question, the next topic is averages, i.e finding the mean, median, lower quartile, upper quartile, interquartile range etc) :D

I did Statistics at AS Level in college....got an A, Alhamdulillaah :D - It was so much easier than maths!!

Here is a list of numbers.
1,2,3,4,4,6,7,8,9,11 (I have ordered them for you, ent I the best? lol) :D
1a) Find the mean
b) Find the mode
c) Find the median
d) Find the upper quartile
e) Find the lower quartile
f) Find inter-quartile range

Note* the next question will extend on this to find outliers using the answer you find for this set of questions. *and that will be all for today...you can chill now you deserve it
