[Wood Pigeon]

This morning a major super-cell thunderstorm swept our area at sunrise. Since there are no buses running here on weekends at 5:00 in the morning, my wife had to take her bike to her hospital job, 10 km away, storm or no storm. The lightning was scary indeed, plus heavy branches can break off of the very old oak trees here, and kill a person straight away!

So I wrote this Dua and kept saying it for the 30 minutes she was underway;

Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْ زَوْجَتِي وَأَسْلِمْهَا، وَاجْعَلْ مَلَائِكَتَكَ مِنْ حَوْلِهَا، وَاحْفَظْ دَرَّاجَتَهَا مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ وَأَذًى

Transliteration:
Al-lā-hum-ma, ih-faz zaw-ja-tī,
wa as-lim-hā,
wa aj-‘al ma-lā’i-ka-ta-ka
min haw-li-hā,
waḥ-faz dar-rā-ja-ta-hā,
min kulli sū’ wa a-dhā.

English:
O Allah, protect my wife and keep her safe, place Your angels around her,
and protect her bike from all harm
and injury.



Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْهَا وَارْعَهَا، وَسَلِّمْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ، وَبَارِكْ لَهَا فِي رِحْلَتِهَا، وَاجْعَلْهَا فِي حِفْظِكَ وَأَمَانِكَ

Transliteration:
Allahumma ihfazha wa-r‘aha,
wa sallimha min kulli سوء,
wa barik laha fi rihlatiha,
wa-j‘alha fi hifzika wa amanika.

Meaning:
O Allah, protect her and care for her,
keep her safe from every harm, bless her journey, and place her in Your
protection and security.



And for extra safety:

اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْهَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ، وَصُدْ عَنْهَا السُّوءَ وَالْأَذَى
Allahumma ajirha mina-s-sama’i wal-ard, wa sudda ‘anha as-su’a wal-adha.

O Allah, shelter her from harm from
the sky and the earth, and turn away
evil and injury from her.



My prayer was indded answered as, the storm broke up over the area she was riding it, then hit full force again just as she reached the hospital's bike park shed. I was watching the Dopplar-Radar the whole time, praying!
