Hi.
In a fast changing world , more and more people are using Text-speak or "Leetspeak". It's often the case that parents cant understand what their kids are typing or writing. This can be dangerous if you are vetting your childs e-mails and mobile phone messages. So here is a very quick uide to TXT or 1337speak.
The rules of TxT language are
1) never use two letters when one will do. So for example See You Later is written C U later
2) In order to Textify a word, numbers are whenever possible used in place of letters , if this fits phonetically with the sound being reproduced. For example 8 is pronounced ay/et, and therefore can be slotted in to a word to shorten or Txtspeak. in the example above See You Later becomes C U L8er
3) Numbers that appear to have a resembelence to letters are whenever possible used to replace the letter.
The most common ones are
4 =A
8=B
<=C
|> =D
3=E
6=G
1=I
|< =K
1 +L
^^ =M
0 =0
5 or $ =S
7=T
From this we can translate most textspeak. The thing to remember is that letters in full words are skipped if not considered significant. Coloqualism is a major factor as well.
Where as we may say "okay" a texter or forum troller will prefer to use O.K, but even if Preference just a "K"
If a word is spelled differently from its phonetic, the photentic is prefered.
So the sentence above becomes.

Abbreviations overule complete words.
LOL = Lots of Laughs
BB= Bye Bye
GTG = Got to go
