Wa salam. I dont think ar-Rum are Russia or Orthodox church. It referred to the eastern Roman (byzantine) empire. It was ruled by Greeks. Greeks are also considered the fore fathers of the European and later entire western civilization. So it must refer to the entire west, Europe and America..
