Why do Salafis try to interpret the Quran verses by themselves? Why dont they look into the various tafsirs of Quran by different scholars before commenting on a verse of the Quran. I really dont like the salafi/wahhabi ideology. they have confused the image of Islam. They are so quick to label something as shirk. I was utterly surprised when I saw in one of the Islamic lectures, a salafi scholar saying that a person who does not pray is a kafir. It is a great sin in Islam to call another muslim kafir as long as they believe in Allah and His Rasool (SAW).

Why dont they look into the various tafsirs of Quran by different scholars before commenting on a verse of the Quran.

Isn't this is a difference of opinion,since not all are the same.

The Salafi Fallacy

The fallacy, is actually in the content of the post.

All the righteous predecessors, were salaf. That is what the word salaf means, those who have gone before. Imam Abu Haneefa, Imam Shafi'ee, Imam Maalik, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (May Allah be pleased with them and have mercy on them all) are all salaf along with other righteous predecessors who did much to explain the rulings of the deen for us.

All of us follow Qur'an, sunnah, and elucidations of the sahaabah and the salaf to the best of our ability. There is not, nor should there be, in a Muslims heart, hate for others, misplaced misunderstandings about others, and an "us versus them" mentality. This is what leads to enmity and division. This is not helpful in fostering unity and brotherhood.

Again, this comment is misplaced. The most famous translation of the Qur'an which some would call salafi, "The Noble Qur'an", is based on Tafseer Ibn Katheer, Tafseer al- Qurtubi, Tafseer at-Tabari and Sahih al-Bukhari.

Again one needs to understand the context of the comment before jumping to conclusions that a person who does not pray has wrongly been called a kaafir. Why does the person not pray? Is it simply because he is lazy? In that case there is a difference of opinion. Is it because he does not view the prayer as being obligatory? In that case, at least two of the four schools of thought say that such a person is a kaafir:

(1) The Shafi`is:

The position of the Shafi`I school is that one who abandons the prayer without denying its obligatory nature is not considered a disbeliever.

Imam Nawawi explicates this in his Al Muhadhab stating, “He who is obligated to pray and he refuses to perform it, and [also] denies its obligatory nature, he is a disbeliever.” (Kitab al Salat, bab tarak al salat wa fih masa’il)

Imam Shirazi states in his Majmu`a, “When one abandons performing the prayer and denies its obligatory nature or denies its obligation yet does not abandon its performance, he is a disbeliever and an apostate according to the consensus of the community.”

(2) The Malikis:

It is stated in Mawahib al Jalil fi Sharh Mukhtasar Khalil that the fatwa of kufr only applies to the one who denies the obligatory nature of the prayer. Otherwise, he is not considered a disbeliever but is only subjugated to the prescribed punishment.

Firstly, such a takfeer is not upon us. Secondly, before declaring that such and such a scholar wrongly called one who does not pray, a kaafir, we need to see the exact context and supporting evidence for that.
