As Salaam Alaikum, Can anyone clearly explain to me about the prayers after or before sunnah or nafs?
Wa alaykum a'salam.
The 5 Fard (obligatory) prayers are:
Fajr 2 rakat
Zhuhr 4 rakat
Asr 4 rakat
Maghrib 3 rakat
Isha 4 rakat
The Sunnah prayers associated with each of these are:
2 rakat before Fajr
4 rakat before Zhuhr and 2 rakat after Zhuhr
2 rakat after Maghrib
2 rakat after Isha
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A house will be built in Paradise for every Muslim who offers twelve Rak'ah of optional salah other than the obligatory salah in day and night, to seek the pleasure of Allah." (Muslim)
This is referring to the above Sunnah prayers I mentioned.
There are also other voluntary prayers such as:
Tahajjud, Witr, Duha..etc.
Do you need those explained too?
I would enjoy an explanation if you wouldn't mind, insha'Allah?
