So I just prayed my Asr prayers wearing a black t-shirt with a thundercat logo at the top left about the size of a tennis ball. Is my Namaz void?

Fatwa Date : Rajab 8, 1430 / 1-7-2009

Question

I know that it is not allowed to pray with an image of a animal or human on ones clothe, but is it permssible to pray with an object such as a tenis ball or any other inanimate object? Thank You Very Much

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad

, is His Slave and Messenger.

We have previously clarified that it is disliked to perform prayer in clothes which have images as in Fatwa 90506. The dislikeability is not restricted to the clothes that have images of living beings; it includes every image that distracts the person in prayer whether it is an image of a living being or of an inanimate object, whether it is on the clothes worn by the person or on the ground. All these things are dislikeable, as stated by An-Nawawi

who said: "It is disliked for the Muslim to perform prayer in the clothes which carry images, a cross or any distracting object. It is also disliked to pray facing them or on them."

Allaah Knows best.
