To what extent can someone lie in this case?

Let's say two people are not getting along. To what extent, can someone lie to reconcile two parties?

It is not good to tell lie. We Muslims should always tell truth, lying opens the door of hypocrisy. Whether if we talk with parents and feel too embarrassed to tell them with truth, that is not good even though they may be strict, they will understand us,if we tell lie to them, like that we tell them that we are sick so we dont go to school just to relax . This is not very good and there could be trouble if they knew. Just telling an example,
