Too much in the New Posts section

I have a habit to go to new posts and see whats on there? When i click on there, it shows me like 18 pages of threads. But i want it simple. I have been absent for a long time and the threads must have been building up but does anybody know any solution to this?
 
When you click on new posts, how many threads you get there?
 
I just clicked on All Read and Volla! All gone lol
