UK library catalogue

Is there a database or search engine of sorts that allows users to search the catalogues of all public libraries in the UK?

I've found a site which lists and links to each individual site of each public library in UK, but it doesn't allow you to search all their catalogues at once - you have to use the search engine in each site. Life's too short to exert such effort over an inter-library loan.

p.s. Google shows there are links to the British Library, but this is for reference material rather than fiction.

p.p.s. I know I could just ask a local librarian. Humour me.
