Vanishing threads and posts

I hope this is the correct section to post this.

I have the impression that a few threads have been removed in the last few days. Also some threads I was reading seem to have a few messages missing in them.
Normally I would think it was just my memory or that I am not looking for the correct thing. But I have the feeling there are more than a few (but it might be an impression).

Did something happen during the weekend?

Do you remember the thread title or the topic that was being discussed in them so that we can verify? As far as I know, only one active thread was deleted yesterday. Others were simply spam like "☪☪Wazifa To Win Lottery☏", "☪☪Dua Stop My Husband Having Affairs☏", "☪☪Kisi Ko Apne Pyar Me Diwana Karne Ka Taweez☏" etc. I am sure you were not looking for one of those.

Other than these, I cannot find anything else in the log.

There were two other threads deleted by posters themselves, one in which the OP himself edited out completely and removed the contents of his post, and another which he requested to be deleted within a few minutes of posting it here.

I was not referring to any clearly junk threads.

I remember seeing the one about someone asking for help and I remember I saw he edited out the content. That was one of the thread I had in my mind.
There was one in the ladies section that seemed to be missing messages, but they are back now. (I am sure you understand why I will not share the post here in the open section)
There was another one in the public section, but unfortunately I can no longer remember the name. I think it was about some sort of chatting system or site or something similar.


I just wanted to let you know, in case there was something happening. I will try to pay more attention and inform you better next time I see something like that.

For the ladies section threads, you can directly PM one of the sister mods.

The one active thread recently deleted that I mentioned in above post is actually the one you are referring to. It was related to Muslim discord server created by one of the members. It was deleted because some of the members and moderators expressed concern that discord has more free mixing as it involves voice-chat as well, and that we cannot promote such avenues here at IslamicBoard as we do not really know how well they will be moderated.


One more thing that seems surprising to most members is, if a member posts multiple consecutive posts, they get merged. And if the new post had a link or an image, it gets automatically unapproved and requires moderator approval. When this happens, it takes the previous post along with it, causing users to think that a post has vanished. Usually we look for such posts and approve them whenever we can.

For example, a new member writes a perfectly normal post. He waits for some replies, gets impatient and writes another post after that which might contain a specific keyword, or a url link or an image. His new post gets auto-merged with the first one, and it will also get unapproved. So it is actually 2 posts getting unapproved instead of one, the old and new merged together.
This can also happen if a member edits his post and writes specific keywords in his posts that require approval. That post will also be auto-moderated.

Do not worry, we have logs for each and every action on every post and we can find out if any post vanishes, :ia:.

That is great. That was actually why I was looking back for that message. I had seen it and was not sure what it was, but I wanted to ask what sort of chatting it was about since I had exactly the same concerns involving free mixing. I am glad the mods here are watchful for such behaviour and it raises my confidence in this great site and its team :)



You explanation about post merging probably explains what I thought I had seen.
