'Buddhism' is simply a catch-all word based on it's founder's identity. I say identity rather than name as 'Buddha' actually means 'awakened (one)' or 'enlightened (one)'. His name was Siddhartha Gautama, although he is more frequently refered to as Sakyamuni, 'sage of the Sakya clan'.

The most relevant word in this context is not 'Buddhism' but Dhamma (Pali) or Dharma (Sanskrit) which refers to both the Buddha's teachings and Buddhst teachings in general. It's difficult to translate precisely like many words in those languages but means roughly 'doctrine' or 'teaching'.

Sikhs are beings who are taught to serve humanity. Not to see any one as lower then them, and to see them selves as lower then everyone:

ham nehee chagae buraa nehee koe ||
I am not good; no one is bad.

This is the ultimate state of humility. to be judgment free of everyone, and to look upon everyone with an equal eye.
the 3 main principles of sikhi is to:

Earn an honest living
To share what they have
To continuously meditate on Gods name

The word Sikh itself means learner, or student, and the true Guru (enlightener-taker from darkness to light) is the teacher.
