say you were praying in the wrong qiblah direction or you didn't know wudo was obligatory and you continued to do this for a number of years until you discovered that what you were doing was wrong....well yeah what is the ruling on that? are you rewarded for your prayers? or are they not written down?

Asalaamu Alaikum Wr Wb, We should realise that Allah is most merciful and his generosity far outweigh's his wrath and anger. Therefore if we are sincere and we repent and ask of Allah to pardon out short comings and mistakes then surely Allah will pardon us. He loves giving and all we have to do is ask. What we should also realise is that basic Islamic knowledge is fard upon us and we have no excuse not to learn the basics.

Therefore repent to Allah and do your utmost to learn all of the basics of Islam aswell as continue to learn until your very last breath. For without knowledge we are left confused and without direction. Therefore learn as much as you can and implement what you learn in your life as well as conveying it to others.

Here is a very good free Islamic E book for you to download which covers all of the basics of Islam and more. It is a very easy read and is also very popular:

May Allah give us the ability to learn about Islam and implement it into our lives aswell as conveying it to others. Ameen

and Allah knows best in all matters
