Alaikumassalam
My intention for this thread is that it is an opportunity for many persons to share our comprehension of the need to stablise any Religion within Faith that will not allow that we could believe in the re-incarnation dogma, and also in Allah.
I will begin this discussion by highlighting matters from my own experience. Essentially my purpose here is to refute those whom try to substantiate that Australian Aborigines belief structure includes any re-incarnation doctrine. The reason I am so determined is because our culture is frequently misinterpreted since we have an Animist belief. So here it is also that I wish to substantiate that Animism is not only believed in by persons whom want the falsehood of re-incarnation, as though it is possible to realise.
It is the case that in modern Australia the belief systems that are present in the community and within which a young person can explore their own belief are limited. The Spiritual teachings available include: the abuses of Christianity; various false teachings about re-incarnation; the abuses of Christianity; knowledge that Judaism and Islam exist without any indication as to what the belief is; the abuses of Christianity; knowledge that Traditionally Oriented Australians believe in Dreamtime mythology; the abuses of Christianity; and very limitedly and occassionally a true Christian teaching or true Muslim teaching. So when young people question what they are raised with from the wrongful portrayals of Christianity which abound, they are confronted with systems that support re-incarnation.
For my self as a young person none of these made an realisable sense. I could not make head nor tail of what was being presented. Yet I comprehended that there existed a base line Faith in immortality of Soul. But when I asked my mother about whether my dead uncle would come back in another form she said no. But I secretly harboured a belief that he must at least still exist as something or other and probably an animal. I simply could not believe that his essence had ceased to exist. So it is that I can readily comprehend why many persons in 'the west' have been drawn into teachings that present false ideology of re-incarnation. As it was I avoided all Spiritual and Religious teachings; and very very many young Australians take that exact same approach. The hippy trippy clap trap of re-incarnation just doesn't wash. Well that is the general Australian outlook.
Yet how many others are believing like me that a Soul continues and that the Christianity we are indoctrinated in, of Rosicrucian false stories, can not explain this. Most look rather toward science. To the extent that science has become aliken to a Religion.
However in my case I eventually came across the teaching of George Ivanovith Gurdjieff, that is connected with one of the schools of Islam; but is in essence for Christians. That teaching reports that: Only one instance of actual re-incarnation has ever at Earth occurred, and that is the truth of Jesus ressurection. Now when I read that I felt that I had a fact I could work with.
"Re" of re-incarnation implies alike to before. Incarnation is just that existance is within the self. So now we can refute that any of those whom encourage us to believe in re-incarnation could be real in their Faith. None of them can prove that they could re-incarnate.
The danger of what they teach is twofold. First it encourages folk to suppose that what they can not acheive today there will be providence for achieving tomorrow. In Allah we know this is not the case. We must find the measure by which we can feel motivated now in hard work.
Second reincarnation ideology actually causes that persons believing in it are increasing the time during which they must endure the fires of Hell. Simply by believing that their own self is worthy of another incarnation in the form in which they are familiar with it; that is, by believing that they could be worthy of existing further without any aspect of their nature entering the fire and thereby leaving them, they are according that their time in the fire will be longer.
My own belief is that of Traditional Aboriginal culture as it adheres to Islam. So I must refute all instances in which our culture has been portrayed as though believing in reincarnation. Our belief is at all times described in terms that can be taken most literally. That is, we talk about our nature being in the nature of the very molecules from which our physical body is made. Before we are born we are of other aspects of nature. After we die we will return to being of other aspects of nature. Perhaps one day in Jannah our nature will be proven to have been of worth, but that is not our buisness right now. Our business in this world is regarded as being figuring out what other forms in nature our mental processes are aligning with. This is a teaching by which we all naturally accept that passage through fire is a necessary evil, and ultimately also beneficial. Those who are most adept at discerning what parts of flora and fauna any mental patterns belong in, are also always those with the most Human strength. This is the Australian Aboriginal experience and it is a markedly different form of Animist Faith to any other, but that compatible with Islam.
What refutations of re-incarnation have others to provide? I am certain that parts of what I have stated can be well embellished and illuminated by other Muslims.
