There is no doubt, Khalid Bin Walid (Rd) was Saifullah (The Sword Of Allah). One of the best qualities of Khalid Bin Walid (Rd) was he always praised the best tactics practiced by his enemies in the war.
When Khalid Bin Walid (Rd) was attacking Muslims during Gazwe-Khandak along with Abu Sufiyan (Rd) and Ikrama (Rd). They were surprised to see the Khandak (Ditch) dug in front of them. Abu Sufiyan (Rd) said, "Muslims are cowards, they have dug the ditch to stop us". On this, Khalid (Rd) was silent and he was thinking to himself, "This is one of the best tactic, a commander should be implementing to safeguard his people". Khalid (Rd) used to consider Abu Sufiyan (Rd) a weak leader. Abu Sufiyan (Rd) was the first run away from Khandaq, when the winds started blowing heavily. He also turned away before, when they planned second battle in Badr. - (Ref: Book: Shamsheer Be Niyam)
After they become Muslim, Abu Sufiyan (Rd) and Ikrimah (Rd) were well known for their bravery and for sacrificing lives in the path of Allah.
However, this incident clearly shows. That downgrading, abusing and insulting the opponents is the sign of weakness. These people can overcome an opponent. On the other hand, people who praise their opponent for their skills and plan accordingly to overcome their skills, win the race. Hence, it is a high time, Muslims give practical approach to the solutions. Rather than abusing and insulting others.
