Why do we use the Ahl ul Kitaab sources?

Salam and hello,

I would like for the Muslims on this forum to explain to the rest of the members what is the wisdom behind using the books of the Ahl-ul-Kitaab when discussing with them. I request this because of some Christian members who comment on our belief as Muslims in the Bible being corrupt whenever we Muslims bring evidences from the Bible.

I think there's a difference in relying on it or in using it to fortify ideas that are already mentioned in our own scriptures. But I don't know and Allah subhana wa ta'ala knows best.
