Why does God…
The One who created the galaxies, the oceans, the stars — and the soul...
ask us to worship Him?
Is He in need of our praise?
Does He gain from our prayers…
our fasts…
our charity?

No.

He is Al-Ghani
The Self-Sufficient.
The One free of all need.
We are the ones in need.

The Qur’an says:
“O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?”
(Qur’an 82:6-7)

Look around us.
You’re reading this — with the eyes He created.
Breathing through the lungs He designed.
Thinking with the mind He taught.
Existing… in a body we did not choose,
on a planet we did not build,
beneath a sky we cannot reach.

And yet… we ask:
“Why does He deserve our worship?”

The truth is…
Worship in Islam
is not just rituals.
It’s recognition.
It’s connection.
It’s love.
It’s knowing Him.

“And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
(Qur’an 51:56)

Worship means recognizing the One who created and sustains us.
It means purpose.
It means peace.
Because we know from Who we came —
to Whom we shall return.
