Zakat and Critical Ilnesses

Hi brothers and sisters,

I was wondering if anyone could shed light on a particular issue for me. Usually for my Zakat my make the simple calculation of assets and liabilities - however this year as of late March I have been diagnosed with blood cancer and have to undergo subsequent treatment and be on leave from work. Does anyone know if it is permissible to leave out assets accumulated after diagnosis in the calculation of Zakat?

You need to pay zakaat even after falling sick , provided your wealth reaches the Nisaab amount. Zakaat is not waived by sickness.
