Slaying Children With Ease

For decades, Israel has killed and arrested Palestinian children. It’s not a new practice for them, but it was typically in small numbers, not enough to grab headlines in Western media. Since Israel’s invasion of Gaza began in October 2023, however, they’ve massacred over 13,000 Palestinian children. That’s more than 13,000 kids killed in about four months!

If this was happening in any Western country…Well, it would have been stopped long before reaching such a staggeringly depressing statistic. While a different value of life is placed on children based on race, unfortunately, generally speaking people are sympathetic to the suffering of children. They are just kids; they’re innocent and haven’t experienced much life yet.

This begs the question: How does Israel kill so many children with such ease? How do they casually justify it when questioned? How do they sleep at night without this messing with their collective conscience?

As British journalist Owen Jones explains in one of his videos, the formula is actually quite simple:

• “Hamas is evil”
  
• “All Palestinians are Hamas”

In an episode of Israeli spokesperson Eylon Levy’s propaganda podcast, State of a Nation, he interviewed former Knesset member Einat Wilf. In the interview, she tried to convince listeners that Palestinians believe:

“Hamas represents us. We love them. We love what they do…Again, to the credit of Palestinians, they’re very clear; they make it clear that Hamas represents their deepest desires, their deepest ethos. Hamas is merely the most brutal, successful executor of the Palestinian vision of no Jewish state.”

Did she actually speak with Palestinians to hear their point of view? On the contrary, Israeli leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu, Bezalel Smotrich, and Itamar Ben-Gvir have made it clear that they want all of Historical Palestine and that there should be no Palestinian state. It’s not just a belief, but what Israel has practiced for about a century. Many people talk about the Nakba of 1948, but they forget that even before this Zionist terrorist groups like Haganah and Stern Gang were murdering Palestinians and driving them out of their villages.

Realistically, who is wiping out whom? The data speaks for itself.



After the October 7th Hamas attack, Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated: “It's an entire nation out there that is responsible. This rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved, it's absolutely not true.”

Really? According to the CIA, 40% of Gaza’s population is aged 14 or younger. These little kids knew and were involved in an attack that surprised the most advanced military in the Middle East? And how can one claim to protect civilians when no one is considered a civilian?

When you vilify an entire nation -- and this is coming from the highest echelons -- what kind of beliefs and actions do you expect? This is how you rationalize the mass extermination of a people and mentally prepare your own population to be okay with it. It’s not much different than what the Serbs did to Bosnians or what the Hutus did to the Tutsis.

Funnily enough, the anti-Palestinian propagandists completely ignore the fact that Hamas has only been around for a few decades and is a direct symptom of the oppression that Israel has inflicted upon the Palestinians. This is not meant as justification for any form of violence, but it would have been a better world if the circumstances didn’t exist that cause people to rise up in armed resistance. If only we lived in a world based on truth and justice.
