assalaamu alaykum,

i do agree this figure for turkey is not correct as i understand there are several million alawites there who are kaffirs by the concensus of the ulema.

still an interesting study!

assalaamu alaykum,
Daw'ud

The figure seems a bit high for Turkey. Istanbul is the center for Eastern Orthodox Christianity. The Patriarch of Istanbul is the equivilant of the Roman Catholic Pope. So I think it is safe to assume that Eastern Orthodox Christians would make up a noticible part of the population.

My thoughts accordingly, but the thing is that the stats come from 'infamous' Wikipedia.org, so maybe its not perfect, but every other nation seems to be just in line.

At 99.8%, Turkey would've been deemed a 'terror' state LONG ago.:giggling:

brap brap Pakistan :D

lol dey aint got space 4 dat much ppl but woo hoo lol in d nex few yrs its gona b number 1 :p

hey lol india should be on here, cos dey have more muslims in india then in Pakiland

I didn't know that. However, Turkey does have tons of bad baggage; from their allegiance to Hitler, to the Armenian genocides, to the Khurd genocides, and their infamous status as the greatest human rights violator.

Turkey angers me for these reasons:

1. Women may not wear head scarves in public areas (parks, gov't buildings, public state university, etc.) as a result of SECULARISM.

2. No one has the right to run a faith-bases school as a result of SECULARISM.

3. All of THESE reasons!

ur correct in not believe in that coz it is an unbeliavably hyperbolised statement(sorry islamicboy)...Turkey has a democratic system which possesses the stupid attribute of secularism...that is, the government affairs and religion do not mix...as a resultant in government buildings such as universities, some hospitals, parliment houses etc, women are not allowed to wear the hijab...teachers are not allowed to teach their religion say, if a teacher is caught explaining Allah in a maths class, that teacher will be put under probation, but at recess and breaks, he can talk about whatever he wants...get my drift?

Turkey is a developing economy which is trying to be as European as possible...so some idiote there believe that peopel who wear the hijab shud be pushed bak to the stone age,,, they are all pro-modernity and anything anti-french(so to speak) is low class...every house in Turkey has a Quran most probabaly, 99% anyway...the problem is that they respect it by hanging it on the wall...not reading it...but 99% is practicing islam...the other one percent isnt ruling...they are the Greek and Armenian inhabitants in the southernish coasts...they cant do anything about this law because the country is so pro "Ataturk" who is a legendary figure in Turkey...he brought up this notion of secularism, noone wants to touch his law as it may be percieved as disrespect...there are millions of political reasons...Turkeys jst trying to join the EU and wants to look good enough i guess...and noone seems to be capable of doing anything coz there are higher powers inflicting from the "underground realm"...

Yes, this greatly surprises me. If the figure is in fact true, it makes me wonder why the Orthodox Christians have declined in numbers.+o(
