I heard that muslims can't eat donkey meat. I know that You can't eat pork and I know why (lets say that I know) - I have read it on WWW of islamic centre where I learn arabic
But what about donkey meat? Can You eat it? If not why?
Assalamu'alaikum
I also learnt that Muslims are forbidden against eating donkey meat. The reason is because there has come a clear hadeeth on it. In the hadeeth it is mentioned that Rasulullah peace be upon him forbade against the eating of "Humur Ahliyyah" which is the donkey. I'll go back and search my notes and get back to you ins ha'allah
Narrated Jaabir bin Abdillah (May Allah be pleased with him) That Rasulullah peace be upon him forbade them against (the eating of ) Humur Ahliyyah (donkeys)......"
Question: I heard that donkey meat is unlawful in Islam, as well as the meat of cats and dogs. Could you please explain this to me?
Answered by Sheikh Rashîd al-Hasan, professor at King Khâlid University
Donkey flesh is forbidden (though horse and zebra meat are lawful). The evidence fot this prohibition is the hadîth related in Sunan Abî Dâwûd and Sunan al-Tirmidhî with a good line of transmission to al-Miqdâd B. Ma`id Yakrib that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “It is unlawful for you to eat the flesh of donkeys and carnivores possessing fangs.” The cat and dog are included in this prohibition, because they are carnivores possessing fangs.
It is related in Sahih Muslim that Ibn `Abbâs said: “The Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade eating the flesh of fanged predatory animals and birds with talons.” This would include the dog, the cat, the bear and other similar carnivores as well as birds of prey like eagles, hawks, and falcons.
As for why these animals are forbidden, we do not need to know this in order to obey the command of Allah in what is permitted and what is forbidden. We were forbidden to eat the flesh of some animals and we must obey. If you study the wisdom behind why these animals were forbidden, you will be sure to find many benefits.
It taste like... like donkey
Normally salami is made from pork and beef but I also ate salami from donkey. http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grafika:Salami_aka.jpg - this is salami
It has stronger taste then other sausages.
Maybe it is haram but it is good
I will have to find the hadeeth for this, but I do remember reading that the reason we are forbidden to eat certain animals is due to their characteristics. Makes sense if you believe that you are what you eat.
It's almost cruel eating farm-reared animals these days, considering the cruel conditions they are kept in. Those poor egg-laying hens caged like sardines in a tin. It's just so cruel.
