"Do the people think that they will be left alone on saying 'We believe', and that they will not be tested? We did test those who have gone before them. Allah has to see who are the truthful and who are the liars."
salaam sis! alhamdulillah great to hear you want to increase your knowledge. May the Almighty help us to increase our Knowledge and implement that knowledge
Sheikh Husain Abdul Sattar is an amazingly inspiring Sheikh masha'Allah [may he be rewarded in abundance]

Dont say you are thick. You are not. Humans are not perfect and obvioulsy there are things that we find difficult to understand but that doesnt make us thick or stupid.
If you love reading books check out this website. They actually give you free islamic books :http://www.islamic-message.net/English/index.htm as well as reading the translation of the Qur'an, Hadiths and stories about the life of the prophet.
btw are you from UK?
Dear Allah. I pray that whoever reads this message shall have your comfort, joy, peace, love, & guidance. I may not know their troubles, but you do. Please keep protecting us. Ameen.
Mashallah, it's great to know that you want to gain more knowledge
and no, you don't have a thick head. Sometimes books will get hard to comprehend, but it won't stop you from learning. It's best to have a teacher to teach you from a book though, from own experience. xD I once read a book before the class even started and after the class, I realized that what I understood was completely different from what the teacher explained...anyways,
I know you mentioned that there are limited places at your place for learning, but maybe your local masjid offers some classes?

yeah you see thats what i heard that you might read a book but you will misunderstand it wrong, it could have a totally different meaning so i have been taking tension about this. so you need somebody to guide you.. my masjid don't offer any educational classes.
there is an imam there which offers free lectures to the non muslims which go there in mixed groups girls and boys together. i sat in on one lecture but it was just basic stuff.
here is some sites you can download from them Audio Lectures and listen to it while driving or cooking (doing house working) or waiting in public transportation .....etc whenever you feel free
