You could try putting your head on a clean surface... I don't see why you would get a spot otherwise.

Pray on a soft mat, or other soft surface..and don't press so hard on the ground.

Re: how to avoid spot on forehead?

Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration.
    Surah # 48 - Surah Al Fath - Verse 29

Why wouldn't you want that mark?

If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allah (Alone) let believers put their trust.
    Surah Ale Imran : 160

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) climbed up Uhud, accompanied by Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and ‘Uthmaan, and the mountain shook with them. He struck it with his foot and said: “Stand firm, O Uhud, for there is no one on you but a Prophet or a Siddeeq or two martyrs.”
    Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3483)

Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Taala) does not inspire seeking forgiveness in a slave whom he wishes to punish.

Re: how to avoid spot on forehead?

Here are a few ways to avoid getting a prostation mark on your forehead.

The easiest way is not to pray at all. Which also is one of the easiest way to go to hell. Scratch idea number one.

The next easiest way is to just touch your forehead very lightly to the ground when you sujud. Which is also a very easy way to spoil your solat and a spoiled solat is not a solat and when you don't have solat, what is there to save you from the fire of nar? Scratch idea number two.

It's also possible to avoid getting a prostration mark on your forehead by putting something soft where you put your forehead when you sujud. This also defeats the whole idea of sujud which is to humble yourself before Allah by bringing your forehead, as a representation of the highest and most revered part of your anatomy, to the level of the bottom of your feet, which represents the lowest and least revered part of your anatomy. So when you sujud on something soft as a special concession to your forehead, it's hard to say that you are actually performing the sujud both in form and essence. Again a flawed solat. Again a flawed solat is no solat. Again the very real threat of hellfire. Scratch idea number three.

My apologies. A million apologies. A million, million apologies. Apparently there's no way to avoid getting a prostation mark on your forehead. Not if you are planning to perform solat. Completely and conscientiously.

When I see brothers with such a mark a think mashaAllah and it represents that he has taqwa and is strong in is religion. it is very honourable to get such a mark, but I do not want that other brothers think I would be a good muslim - you know we all make sin... And sometimes you hear in lecture brother saying generelly (not to a specific person): 'he has a long beard and dresses to sunnah but even he make that or that sin', I want actually avoid that.

Re: how to avoid spot on forehead?

Assalaamu Alikumu Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

My respected brother; humbly, my advice to ya is to ignore all around you and never think of what may think of you when you do something for Allah's Sake...some may translate that mark as a nifaaq mark saying that you are pushing your forehead so hard against the ground to have it and show how righteous you are and I am telling ya; all wrong things others may say or do are on their backs burdening them alone and one day they will stand before Allah to be asked about such false speech against a believer person one of Allah's slaves and servants...

And if they would think good about you then Alhamdulilah; be happy for them thinking good of a believer fellow and taking Hasanat for this way of thinking. We must strive to be better and better slaves of Allah so, let all their praises be reminders for ya that push you to do more good encouraging you to keep on going forward and do more khayer avoiding sins to be closer and closer to Allah...

This mark of yours is a honor from Allah and noor for ya in the Day of Judgement In shaa Allah so, no matter what you just keep it there and always maintain it with Taqwa, honesty, Ikh'laas and love of Allah...always work as much as you can and according your ability to deserve it and I believe you do and Allah knows the best about you...

Whenever someone praises ya you say:

Allahumma-ja'lni khayran mima yadhunoon wa-ghfir li ma la ya'lamoon wa la tu'akhidhni bi ma yaquloon.
O Allāh, make me better than what they think of me, and forgive me for what they do not know about me, and do not take me to account for what they say about me.

I can emphatize with your concern.

Every time I look at my face in the mirror and comb my beard, I wonder whether I should just shave it all off to avoid the hassle to having to refuse to lead prayers in jemaah because, despite the length of my beard, I felt totally inadequate and ill-equipped in terms of knowledge and amal to lead a jemaah in prayer. However, I tell myself that I am not keeping my beard to show off my piety. I just wear a beard because I love the Holy Prophet and I want to look like him. So I put away the shaving knife again.

Pray, ya akhi (or is it ukhtee), pray because that's mandatory. And perform the sunat prayers, too, to make up for any shortcomings in your fardhu prayers.

Mark on your forehead? That's none of your concern. Allah makes that appear. Not you. People misunderstand your mark? That's their problem. It's their minds making the wrong connection. Not yours.

Re: how to avoid spot on forehead?

Firstly, I want to thank everyone of you. May Allah reward you with all the best.

Secondly, I have to confess that I am the same guy from that thread: (Only for Bros) - I need urgend help!

I do not know if it is easier to understand why I opend this topic. I started that linked-thread some months ago but to be honest I relapsed all the time after few days. I think I managed it for just max for 12 days. That is so crazy - I know their harms, but dopamine does what ever it wants in my brain. Even in Ramadan: first week was amazing, I was a lot in the masjid, read holy quran translation, and felt iman in my heard. Day 8 I relaped I do not know why? There was no pleasure or anything I just know that I started to fantasize not about really bad things, just about girls (what is actually bad enought), but that was enought to visit some bad sites few days later. I was not more able to fear Allah at this stage, it is like something is blocked in my brain, I tried to warn myself, but it did not work. I really do not know if Allah accepts me as a Muslim. Since some days my prayers are not more really with khushu and it seems that long sujuds did not really affect my heard althought I felt literally iman in my heard.

Feel like Allah does not accept my prayers and that I am doing something very wrong in general that Allah does not guide me. I really understood that this matter is not up to me, it is in the hand of Allah. but I really do not know, what I can do? I am actually at a age where I could get married, but that is not possible. I really want to have a family with children etc and want contact to a women, not to fullfil desire only, it become a desire to talk with a woman in halal way, to see in her face, to touch her hand and to smell her; have a bit passion and to practice religion with her, to share life. That is embarrassing to write, but I am anonymous... I think this porn addiction is because I try to find an alternative to that, but it is not. It is so frustrating, I am feeling like a kafeer. May Allah protect me to become one. I am so disappointed of myself, I would manage it at least while Ramadan is running, but I did not. Fear to not reach the next Ramadan to profit fully of it. I know it is even not end, but this disappointment lets me really struggle. Do not know what to do. I have been tried it several times in the past, I have no believe more to overcome it. Moreover I think I have a big issue with sabr. I am very impatiently. All things need time but want everythings that happens immediately.

Something is really going wrong in my brain, in my heard, but I do not know what. Sometimes I hear from Brothers who used to drink alkohol, go to parties, have zina and so on, how Allah has guid them. Alhamdullah I have been never done those things but sometimes I get the idea that this is the key to get guidance, what is wrong and stupid, I know.

Some brothers told me I should go to an imam and tell him about my problem. But I cannot do that. I know that you are not able to help directly, I have to struggle with this matter but I don't know more how. I read of some people who managed it for long time, I am talking about non-Muslims, why I - who wants to stop it mainly for the sake of Allah - am not able to do what a kafeer has done.

Thirdly, I am really sorry to write here again.

Re: how to avoid spot on forehead?

    dear brother,

You have to be careful of shaytan's whispers. He is trying to make you despair and give up on acts of worship completely. So keep trying to do good and have positive thoughts regarding Allaah , no matter how difficult it may seem. Reflect on your life and think of ways to change... be confident that you can change and place your trust in Allaah and do it. Try to occupy yourself with other things, whether Islamic activities or halal things like sports and fitness... I think these are really important to help you focus on what you need to. Try to spend less time on the computer so that you will not be tempted to visit bad sites, and maybe you will be able to avoid it completely if you occupy yourself with other things . Use the remaining days and nights of Ramadhan to turn yourself around and ask Allaah as much as you can for His mercy, help and guidance. This is a month of training and change... try to make the most of it before it's gone .

May Allaah grant us all the ability to change for the better this Ramadhan, Aameen.

Asalaamu Alaikum, yes I remember you brother I had asked you to look through the thread "How to overcome Masterbation".

My brother we all go through ups and downs, highs and dips when it comes to our imaan (faith). This is part of the struggle of life as we are created to toil and struggle. Our test is to persevere with patience and strive through each day of our lives doing the best we can to please Allah and refrain from anything which may anger or displease him. The tests and hurdles of life are not easy. If things were that easy and everything was put on a plate for us then what would be the point of life because then it would not be much of a test. Our test is to struggle against the whispers of shaythan and our desires and in particular our carnal desires. Jannah is surrounded with such tests. It is not easy to gain Paradise. Jahannam is easy because it is surrounded with following desires freely without a care. The fact that you really care to the point that it is effecting you this much clearly shows you have imaan and that you are concerned for your imaan and that Allah may be angry and displeased with you.

Also how can you say you feel Allah is not wanting to accept your deeds? You cannot make such an assumption as only Allah knows these things. You must not have such a downtrodden attitude. We should be fearful and at the same time hopeful that Allah will accept our deeds regardless of what we have done and we should ask of him to accept our deeds and to help and guide us in every aspect of our lives. Of course Allah is wanting to help and guide you but my brother Allah helps those who help themselves. On top of that this is a test for you. So you must make every effort to tackle this issue and at the same time look for solutions. He has given a solution to this and that is marriage. Honestly the best advice I can possibly give you regarding giving up this evil sin is to get married as soon as you possibly can. You mentioned you are not in a position to marry at the moment but my brother do not let trivial matters stop you from getting married like having to have a certain amount of wealth or a nice house or car etc. Just get married and know that her sustenance will also provide for the both of you as well as yours and Allah certainly does increase the sustenance of those who get married and many married people can attest to this.

So do not let anything stop you from getting married because you know you have to know as it is obligatory upon a person who has no self control anymore. So you must take every step to get married and this should be what you should be concentrating on from now on more than anything else. Ask of Allah during these blessed days and nights to make it easy for you to find a good spouse for marriage and to help you get into the position well then your number one priority should be to get yourself into the position. Whilst you are in the pursuit of getting married then in the mean time do the best you can by following the various advices that you have been given to stop this evil sin, for example in the in the thread:

    How to Overcome Masterbation:

    http://www.islamicboard.com/advice-s...terbation.html

and also act upon the various other advices that you have been given. Another thing you can do is to put a family friendly internet filter onto your computer which will block such sites and throw away the password after writing down a long password. Try this free one:

    http://www1.k9webprotection.com/get-...rotection-free

And also make firm intention every time to rid yourself of this evil habit. If you fall and fail, so what? Get up and carry on. Keep going until you succeed! Even if that means again and again. Learn from your previous failures and try something different next time. Do not just keep making the same mistakes. But learn and adapt your approach. We will not be condemned for failing and then continuing to try and succeed. But we will be condemned for failing and then giving up totally in loss and despair. A Muslim does NOT give up and allow evil to overcome him. He perseveres, struggles, strives and never gives in until he has succeeded. If there is a solution available then he tries his best to implement this solution which in your case is marriage. A Muslim does not give into despair. He does not have a negative downtrodden attitude . He tries his best to be positive and puts his faith, trust, reliance and hope in Allah. He continues to try his best and begs of Allah for assistance. So do not hesitate to beg and cry to Allah for he listens quicker to his slaves who asks of him is despair crying unto him like a mother quickly answers her baby when it cries for her.

So my brother the best days and nights are now to come in the last 10 days of this blessed month. So never lose hope. We ONLY live once and have one go at this life in making the best of it so we must NEVER let anything get in our way in trying to get closer to Allah. Allah loves those who repent and ask of him regardless of how many sins we are doing day in day out:

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind.

O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you.

O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.

All Allah wants is for us to turn to him. Whether we are happy or sad. Whether we are going through good times or tough times. We must repent sincerely and wholeheartedly and Allah will NEVER turn us away. He hears us and he loves it when we beg of his mercy and forgiveness because his mercy and forgiveness will NEVER run out! He looks for every excuse to forgive us so how can we ever despair of his mercy?

So my brother please remember us in your Dua's and I hope you can from now on have a good, positive, fresh outlook to life and try your best always and at the same time beg and ask of Allah and put your trust and reliance in him. PLease watch this short clip:

As-Salam Alaikum wa Rametullahi wa Barakatuh,

jarakh Allahu khairan, again, for helpful comments. That video is really helpful - looking forward for the last ten days, insha Allah I will reach.

barakh Allahu feekum, may Allah give you all the best here and in hereafter. May Allah protect you and your families. May Allah help you, how you help others with such useful support. Make insha Allah Du'a for me, that I stay with a clear mind and Allah gives me a strong iman that keeps me away from that disgusting stuff. May Allah bless you all.
