    Asking Forgiveness

A sincere repentance means you have remorse for what you’ve done and you have a strong intention not to do it again. What if you’re not sure whether what you’ve done is wrong and you want to repent just in case? You can’t really say you won’t do whatever it was again because it might be permissible and you’re not sure if you should have remorse for it.

Borderline cases are generally not that easy to answer...every case has to be taken care of separately...so I cannot give you a general answer to that. But either way...even if it is permissible, it can be wrong.

I would say, if in doubt...better repent and sincerely try not to do it again.
Having remorse for something just because you should have remorse for it is not really sincerely remorse. It must come from inside because you feel bad...you did something wrong...and you do not want to do that anymore.
