Can someone shed light on how much (as a guideline in accordance with Sunnah) in modern times (today) the value that or the minimum value that a man should give as mahr to his wife, especially for a modest man wishing to follow the sunnah in USD / GBP / EURO?
can someone shed light on whether the giving of gifts like gold, furniture and wedding clothes etc and all the rest of it, is it gifts in kindness, gifts in line with culture or gifts in line with sunnah?
also how many different types of mahr is there and how did they come about, their origins?
im a bit confused...
if i could be enlightened i would be eternally grateful
