I struggle with my 5 daily prayers. I have been for a long time. I want to make changes and fulfill this obligation of our religion. I fell off the straight path and have a hard time getting back on. what do you do to motivate yourself to pray? How do you make the spiritual connection?
Being a Muslim is about changing yourself, not Islam
Sister If you ask me in about any sin I will tell you : seek help through patience and prayer,
And because of this important affection of prayer in Muslim's heart and acts and morals you should seek help in prayer
Because if you know that the prayer can help you to avoid a lot of sin .. to feel peace in heart .. to found a lot of obedience easy you will know that you need salat
And if there is no benefit from salat expect to connect with God to speak and your lord respond ... it will be enough
What if you know all those things
Ask Allah
Began those days to pray and on sujoud ask Allah to help you ... ask him from the bottom of your heart speak to him and tell him how you want to fulfill your salat and keep on striving and being patient and inshallah anllah will help you because you want him and you are asking how to be close to him
May Allah help you and us to be good and accept our deeds
Amen!
Thank you sister for your advice and encouragement. I managed to start of with 2 rakat last night. This morning I missed the deadline for Fajr. I'm making it up as soon as sunrises.
Ameen to your duas, sister.

Alhamdulillah I have been praying all 5 every day this week. It makes me so happy that Allah has given me the strength to accomplish this. With the help of Allah I will pray each on time.
Today I was playing scrabble with my family and we rarely ever do anything together but I had a quick break for salat as soon as the time came in and was determined not to rush during the salat. Then I just happened to read this
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ
So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone].
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.
Realising that the sacrifice I was making was for al-kauthar made me feel so grateful and happy alhamdulillah
