maybe someone can confirm for me which one it is inshaAllah.
Either one would be pronounced very much like Michael. but, I feel the ميكل is the better way. Both of them sound more like McHale to me when I try to pronounce them. But, we will not find anything that will pronounce exactly like Michael.
so if an arabic speaker were to read ميكل would it be the the same name as in the quran 02:98? (regarding the angel michael, mikail, mikayeel, etc.) b/c thats really what i am looking for.
so how do you think you would write it the way it is pronounced in english- mike-uhl?

I can not think of any Arabic letter combination that would give the long i sound.
In 2-98 it is writen as ميكائيل, The pronunciation is like Mee Kal Lal

No it would be different. The name of the angel Mikaa'eel and the name Michael are spelt differently.
this is where i get confused. so there is one Quran written only one way in one language. so if one were to read mikail, meekail, michael or mikaa-eel wouldn't they all mean the same angel? just different ways of translating the arabic name into.......whatever languages...i dunno how to put it.

hrm still confused.
A big difficulty is that is the only place in the Qur'an where that particular angel is mentioned. It is just an assumption that it is reference to the same Angel that is called Michael in English. Personally I do not know.
Can I have the definition for Ukti or Uhkti. I'm not sure which one is the correct spelling.
JazakumAllah Khair
You will find variations in the transliterations using the Roman alphabet as the exact sounds can not be duplicated with the alphabet. just a close approximation so you will see both Ukhti and Ukthi spelled. the actual pronunciation is close to a mixture of both spellings.
Can someone please translate what is written in the picture.
