Arabic Literature (OP)
Assalamu alaykum,
Just thought it would be nice if we had a lil thread on arabic literature, somewhere we could discuss our fave poems or ones that have inspired us insha Allah...
The following poem is mentioned by Al-Imaan Nawawi in the beginning of his book Riyadhus Saaliheen.
(The poet is unknow) He said:

Hey, That's nice But try changing the arabic font that one's not that clear!
Can umm-sulaim do it though! she's had so much to translate already
Maw,She is MORE than willing to do it trust me!! she's over the mooooon about it..
And you know another thing, I"ve looked at 4 different versions of the poem already from different websites, and each of them have a little differences!
Some Zaa'id and Some Naaqis
You know, when the sheikh hafidhahullah was doing the explanation of it, he mentioned some parts of the bayt that had to be changed, tas7ee7..etc
however we don't have our notes on us for that lesson unfortunately!
It wouldve been nice to put up maa huwa asa77!!
Walahmdulilah All's Barakah!!

Re: Arabic Literature...
But i was thinkin' Sue, You see how the nuskhas are slightly different in the arabic.
When translated into English, its round about the same meaning.
eg: faniyat = dahabat!..
fahimti??

Re: Arabic Literature...
You guys you remember 7ajjaj bin yusuf (Adhaalim) right
Umm salamah and Sh.Yahya mentioned this poem of his that he recited towards the end of his life, qeela annaho taab (wallahu a'lam)
nice right...i got it from Al-bidaayah wa Nihaayah!

Re: Arabic Literature...
here's the translation sis:

So Abul Abbaas Al-morree narrated from Al-Rayaashee who narrated from Al-Asma'ee who said:
When the death of 7ajjaaj neared he started reciting:-
O my lord indeed my enemies have sworn and exerted,
that i am a man from the residers of the fire
do they swear on blindness, woe to them
Their knowledge isn't like (the knowledge) of the great in affairs the most Forgiving
So Al-7assan was informed of this and he said: verliy if he is saved, he is saved because of these 2 (verses)
And some added to this poem:
Indeed if the leaders servants' begin to age
to mend their ways they free them, the way the pious free them
And you O my creator deserves more in that generosity,
I have certainly aged in freeing, so save me from the fire

Does anyone read jahilliyah poetry?
It will be interesting to go through some, I don't know arabic or I will. Of course the poetry has to be appropriate devoid of obscenity and inappropriateness.
Any brothers or sisters willing?
