:salamext:

my current laptop is acting strange so I need a new one for my studies (IT) ,
it needs to be fast, good videocard and not too expensive :D

do you guys recommend any ?

:sl:
If you have the money, go for alienware, dell or other high name brands (these babies will usually be packed with the highest gfx/sound cards on the market plus higher quality ram etc)

Otherwise, stick with pc world/comets high price range. (gfx card will be mid range mainly - maybe lucky to get a high range but it will cost a lot). In general, pc world/comet will have more affordable prices but won't come with the latest gfx cards, whereas alienware et all will have those and also a bigger price.

So if money isn't a problem and you want high quality gfx card, go for alienware, dell etc because pc world won't have it.

Yep, go with alienware if you don't not mind spending that kind of cash...unless you are not into gaming of course. :P

alienware? never heard of it :X
It needs to be a laptop thats suitable for IT.
so Dell is something recommendable ?

Yep. I've always been with Dell. It's good and trusted...

Good stuff for not much of a price. :thumbs_up

Walaikum Aslaam..

firstly depends what you going to need to use it for really....

Id say Acer or dell laptops are very good for normal basic things...

you will get vista home premium however you will also get a trial version of MS 07

Good memory would be at least 2 if not 3GB and Hard drive space of maybe 140GB or so...

Here is a list with a few of what id sort of get....

In my experince ive always had a desktop PC and it has served me well for well over 3 years. Ive got a Dell PC and they are good laptops aswell as Desktop PC's.

Many of my friends have Acer laptops or toshiba laptops as they are reliable with good specs.

£500 is adequette for a really decent laptop.

.........

I've had a Dell for 3+ years now.. it worked great.
But last year it slowly started dying.
I reinstalled windows like 284 times, cleared the harddrive, all sorts of stuff.
It works well enough now, still occasionally goes mad and I get a bright blue screen, followed by a shutdown. But it's been good to me.

So yeah, even with all that, DELL still rocks.

the blue screen of death:raging:

get a mac, dell is cheap and all, but it's got very low specs-unless you're willing to spend- compared to the macs. but then, it's pricey too, but it's top notch performance & hardware wise, and if you love windows to death and all, just install it:).

it's not cheep tho..

^ 284 times !? thats not good isnt it :exhausted

you all can say dell or vaio or toshiba is best but what laptop ? lol there aint only one dell :D

the blue screen of death:raging:

Tell me about it!:raging:
I was a complete moron and didn't back up my files...

The first time it died, I lost everything. Including all my photos. All my photos.
All my photos.imsad

Guven- I've got the Dell Inspiron 6000, but I think this model is really old now. Try looking at the newer Inspiron versions..

^my heart goes out to you and so on..

no really, it's a disaster having ur pc die on you without backup, I lost loads of gigs once because of that. all games and anime tho, so..yeah:)

Stay away from Toshiba and Dell. The aftersales support sucks!!!

I worked for Laptop manufacturers until recently.

If you want a decent reliable laptop buy a Sony Vaio. No headache and great service.
