:sl: and Greetings to all our members,

As our community is growing and the forum expanding, it is important to constantly endeavour to enhance and improve LI. Hence we will be working to develop the forum in order to direct it towards a more beneficial and constructive purpose. We know that the forum has already undergone a number of changes, and we apologise for the frustration arising from this, but in the long run it is for a good cause and to help make it a more worthwhile experience here.

You will already have noticed some alterations in the moderating team, mentioned here. It's possible that a couple more changes may occur in the near future Insha'Allaah. We have also been reviewing the forum structure and are hoping to remove a few sections that are not as productive, while introducing some exciting new ones in their place. To start with, we are hoping to expand the Basics of Islam section and relocate a couple of other sections into it, and we will also be working on the General Chat section. We will mention specific changes and further details in this thread as they occur, therefore check here regularly to remain updated.

Some of our particular targets that we hope to achieve include improving the quality of discussions, as well as that of Islamic material and its authenticity, to facilitate the sharing and seeking of valuable knowledge. We also hope to focus on attitudes and behaviours on the forum. If we remember that were the entire body of the rules to be summed up in one word, it would be: respect; respect for Islam, respect for fellow members and tolerance of their beliefs, and respect for the community as an entity.

As members, your help and support is very important to us. It is only by closely working together that we can make LI the friendly and constructive environment we all want it to be. Help us by following our forum guidelines and reporting posts that are contrary to them. We are also interested to hear your views, your feedback and your concerns. You can make a comment in the Comments and Suggestions area, or if necessary you can contact me directly via private messaging.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation :).

We ask Allaah (swt) to help us in this task and allow the forum to be a place of benefit for all of us, Aameen.

Basics of Islam, now called Learn about Islam, has been reopened. We apologise for the length of time that it was closed, but we hope that it has been improved and better organised than before.

All threads submitted in the section will require approval, so please be patient with us. Please ensure that any material submitted is referenced wherever possible and that the sources are authentic and reliable Insha'Allaah.

7. You will notice that the forum looks a bit different, which is because the Learn about Islam forums now have a category of their own. A couple of other forums have also had a slight name change to better suit their purpose.

We hope this will help organisation and navigation on the forum Insha'Allaah. If you have any problems or queries, please do not hesitate to contact one of the staff or ask in the Forum Help & Feedback section:

8. The Halal Fun section is now called Puzzles & Humour. Among the reasons behind this name change is to specify what is appropriate for the section and to point out that not everything and anything belongs there.

We have also decided to closely monitor threads in this section as we have found it to be an area giving rise to much freemixing and unnecessary idle speech. As such, threads that are seen to be inappropriate or serving no purpose will be either closed or removed. Some threads may be closed early to prevent unnecessary replies that may lead to freemixing.

The decision as to whether a thread is suitable will be at the discretion of the moderators of the Puzzles & Humour section, although members are welcome to seek clarification through private messaging.

We hope that this will help to reduce the danger of fitnah on LI, by the help of Allaah (swt).

9. The Campaigns section has been removed.

Most of the threads in there have been moved to the General section, although a few may have been moved elsewhere on the forum. If there is any thread you are having difficulty finding, you can contact me and I will try to help Insha'Allaah.

We will be making a few more changes and a clean up of the forums. Basically, it will be a re-implementation of what br. Muhammad said earlier in the first post:

On popular demand, there's a new section created exclusively for the news, recordings and recitations of the Imaams of Masjid Al-Haraam and Masjid An-Nabawi.

Haramain Shareefain

It is located as a sub-section under the Islamic Multimedia forum.
