This week is Christian Unity week when people of different denominations pray for each other, and share things together. This Sunday we shall be doing a pulpit swap when a minister from our local Anglican Church will come and read the Gospel in our Catholic Church at mass.
This is the second year this has happened and it would have been totally unheard of twenty or thirty years ago in our church; in terms of breaking down barriers in people’s hearts this is a huge step forward.
I would like to see an interfaith week when people of different faiths consciously share, pray and do things together.
In the spirit of working towards visibly sharing one God.
It would have been more important to see an Evangelical come to pray in your church. Anglicans are former Catholics, and some parts of the Anglican Church were about to merge back into the Catholic Church. But it did not work because of too strict demands from the Catholics. Christian Unity is like one step forward, one step backward.
It would have been more important to see an Evangelical come to pray in your church.
Catholics and Anglicans were killing each other about ten miles from were I live a few hundred years ago, so I see this as a huge step forwards. We do not have any evangelicals in our town but our churches together group brings a dozen denominations into contact with each other.
Building bridges of friendship happens one day at a time and is an on going process.
In the spirit of seeking greater interfaith relations
interesting thing, would be nice to see more shiites pray with me in college
You have the desire to pray with other Muslims and that is a huge step towards building friendships, maybe if they have not come to you, then you have to go to them.
