    Baptism....need answers please?

    Report bad ads?

    Peace be upon you all

I am reading now something about Baptism which is about how to make the person keep his strong faith about the Jesus as I understand and it is done to let the holy spirit be in the water that used in Baptism.

Sorry but I dont got it,
1- Why it has to be with something like water? I mean is God need especially water to accept the human as an honest Christian.I read that it has a lot of salt on it to not let it rotten. For the children it has to be in the eighth days of their born day.
but wait, if the person is from a Christian parent, he will be by default a christian as well,
2- So do he still have to washed with this water to be accepted in Christianity?
3- Why it has to be in the eight day, what this child will have as a religion before the day of baptizing him??? And what if the child was not baptized under any circumstance, which religion he will have?
I think it happened that parent cant take their child to church to Baptism for any reason I read some stories like that

    What I wanna know also

4- How it is different from one christian group to another.

It's symbolic. Water = Life, purity.

Think about it, you use it daily, to shower, you drink it, you can't survive without it.

Baptism in the Christian sense is basically a statement of faith in Christ. Some denominations do not hold that Baptism is required for salvation, and some do. Catholics most certainly do. Most Christians are Baptized, either as children or later in life. Some choose to be Baptized more than once, as a way of re-focusing their life on Christ.

I'm not aware of any rule suggesting an infant cannot be Baptized until the eighth day. I believe that was the law regarding circumcision in the Jewish tradition. As far as I'm aware a Christian infant can be baptized after birth if the parent wishes, or even in the womb. As for the state of an infant who dies without Baptism, there is a large degree of controversy and many opinions. I believe in 1992 the Catholic Church stated that infants who die without Baptism are left to the mercy of God, which seems the wisest stance to take.

In Sikhism, Baptism (Amrit -- Ambrosial Nectar) is required (one of the things) to be a true Sikh... I's like an 'initiation' ceremony so to speak... I would presume it would be the same sort of thing in Christianity.

also, I think this is a very helpful link to Atheists who don't believe in the Soul/Spirit, which ultimately is from God... I think it could shed some light as to the 'proof' of God.
