    attachmentphp?attachmentid1269&ampd1146946260 - Positive Thinking

Here's something new for both our Muslim and Non-Muslim members who have now been with us on our Islamic forum for some time. First question:
Name something positive that you have learned about Islam while on the forum.
And if you feel that you have also learnt about the other ways of life from this forum then you may answer:
Name something positive that you have learned about one of the other non-muslim faiths/ways of life while on the forum.

By something positive I mean any teaching that you found beautiful, any concept that you really liked, any view that you agreed very much with, maybe some belief that you found compatible with your own faith that you didn't expect the other faith to hold, etc.

Great thread akhee and WOW it looks amazing

Name something positive that you have learned about one of the other non-muslim faiths/ways of life while on the forum.
A very valuable thing i learned from this thread is you should never push your views to such an extent that you ignore the views of the person your discussing with. Refutations are impossible when you are not openminded! Buddhism has intrigued me, some of trumbles views are quit refreshing .

Name something positive that you have learned about Islam while on the forum.
You need to see things from the other persons point of view carefully only then can you make them understand exactly where they are wronging! Preach in a beautiful manner, manners go a long way .

    JazakAllah khair BarakAllah feekum

Theres much more akhee, i'll post it as it comes to me

    Ah finally some positivity!
For me: the fact that there are others who have similar views on certain topics is always pleasing to hear. I particularly like hearing points from the following members: Imaad udeen, takumi, genius, czgibson, heigou and glo.

    Re: Positive Thinking

I think the thing that has struck me most is not so much about Islam, as about muslims themselves - the depth of faith shown by many of you which I both respect and admire. Although, for obvious reasons, I can't share the opinion is has to be the one religion, I think that if many more people shared that depth of faith the world would be a much better place - whatever the afterlife (or the next life), may have in store for us.

I learned a lot while on this forum. I always thought that muslims were those from the middleeast killing people... but then I soon realized that islam doesn't teach that.

and since I've been on this forum I have grown in my own faith

I admire the clarity with which some of the non-Muslims ask questions and approach topics. It certainly makes me think sometimes.
And it enables us all to actively work with our faiths, rather than following them blindly.

    Assalaamu Alaikum

    Nice thread Masha Allah.

Name something positive that you have learned about Islam while on the forum.
There are many postive things that I have learnt about Islam. Hmmm…. If its one thing its got to be Why two women witnesses?…. The misconception about this so phenomenal! When you look into Islam from authentic sources one relies the beauty and the wisdom behind the witness of two women. …

Name something positive that you have learned about one of the other non-muslim faiths/ways of life while on the forum.
Sikhism- it’s a really interesting religion. I didn’t know it had some similarities with Islam at all! Basically I didn’t know Guru Nanak went to Hajj and had Muslim friends and most importantly worshipped only one God alone subhnallah.

    Re: Positive Thinking

Greetings and peace be with you Ansar, and thank you for starting this thread.

I admire the Muslim devotion and discipline to prayer.

I like the way Buddhists meditate and how they tell stories about morals.

I admire the Salvation Army in how they go out into the community doing soup kitchens, helping the homeless, in Britain they are second to the social services in the amount of work they do helping the disadvantaged.

I like the theology in all faiths that inspires people to strive towards a greater interfaith understanding and friendship. The theology of peace and reconciliation, the power to forgive and to love your neighbours as you love yourself.

The understanding that the God who created my friends also created my perceived enemies, and it is for me to try and brake down the barriers that exist in my own mind, so that I might have a greater consideration for all of God’s creation.

Allah chooses whom he wills, and it seems that he has chosen each one of us in many different ways. I look on my faith as a gift from God, and in talking to people of other faiths I believe that their faith is also a gift from the same God. It seems that one of our greatest challenges is to accept that we cannot change that which God wills for other people.

In the spirit of seeking greater interfaith friendships

    Hi Eric

I have noticed you have great respect for all relgions or shall say anything or everything people belief in (in terms of faith)...Do you not consider that some people are misguided and thus following a fasle belief? Or do you think everyone is guided and is worshipping God in many ways that is suitable to their desires and wishes?

    Re: Positive Thinking

    Greetings and peace be with you Al-Mu'minah;

I have a great faith in God through the Catholic Church but faith is not proof, it hangs on beliefs. If I am honest with myself there is the possibility that my beliefs could be wrong,

As such I sense we are all in the same boat and really we each need to try and live as morally a good a life as possible. I also feel there is the need to pray for each other that we may all find salvation, I have family and friends who are not Catholic and I would not like to see them burn in hell fire.

It seems strange that the same God gives you sufficient proof to follow Islam, he gives me sufficient proof to follow Christianity and he gives proof to others in many diverse ways.

Somehow I see the greater challenge being how do we get on with people who are different to ourselves?

In the spirit of seeking a greater interfaith friendship

    Greetings Eric

I have a great faith in God through the Catholic Church but faith is not proof, it hangs on beliefs. If I am honest with myself there is the possibility that my beliefs could be wrong,
Wrong? So really you don't have much hope? How can you possibility follow a religion you think could be wrong?

As such I sense we are all in the same boat and really we each need to try and live as morally a good a life as possible.
Actually no, i think thats were we differ, i have faith in my religion and i don't think it could ever be wrong. I believe its the truth, the way to paradise, peace and salvation. And only it is Allah who guides whom He wills to the truth.

And by the way i don't think you really answered by questions....

Do you not consider that some people are misguided and thus following a fasle belief? Or do you think everyone is guided and is worshipping God in many ways that is suitable to their desires and wishes?

Also, learnt everything I know so far about sikhism. Very interesting and something Id love to know more about.

    Learnt About Islam:
Alot of in-depth topics, too many to mention. Learnt alot, Alhamdulillah.

What do you like about Others??

I haven't notice this thread befor so sorry for making another one...

We all know where we disagree.
But are there some things you like/respect/look up to in other faiths?

    for me:
    Islam:
    - i love islamic architecture
    - i think that Muslim way of prying is very moving (in eye's of bystander)
    - i think it takes courage to wear hijab
    - i like it for it's simplicity
    trying to be more specific:
5:32 Because of this did We ordain unto the children of Israel that if anyone slays a human being-unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth-it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind
4:35 God is the light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His light is, as it were, [50] that of a niche containing a lamp; the lamp is [enclosed] in glass, the glass [shining] like a radiant star: [51] [a lamp] lit from a blessed tree - an olive-tree that is neither of the east nor of the west [52] the oil whereof [is so bright that it] would well-nigh give light [of itself] even though fire had not touched it: light upon light!

    Buddhism
    - sometimes seem to me that buddhists have sharper perception of this crazy word.
    - i respect them for this calm acceptance of belief that there is nothing on "the other side"
    - i simply like their composure
    trying to be more specific:
I take upon myself... the deeds of all beings, even of those in the hells, in other worlds, in the realms of punishment... I take their suffering upon me,... I bear it, I do not draw back from it, I do not tremble at it ... I have no fear of it,... I do not lose heart... I must bear the burden of all beings, for I have vowed to save all things living, to bring them safe through the forest of birth, age, disease, death and rebirth. I think not of my own salvation, but strive to bestow on all beings the royalty of supreme wisdom. So I take upon myself all the sorrows of all beings. I resolve to bear every torment in every purgatory of the universe. For it is better that I alone suffer than the multitude of living beings. I give myself in exchange. I redeem the universe from the forest of purgatory, from the womb of flesh, from the realm of death. I agree to suffer as a ransom for all beings, for the sake of all beings. Truly I will not abandon them. For I have resolved to gain supreme wisdom for the sake of all that lives, to save the world."
    - it's so Christ "style"

    Judaism
    - Jew are like God's sign through history. how not to like them
    - i respect them for their solidarity

and Sikhs...that's a problem because i haven't seen/met any in real life...but i like their head cover. And their faithfullness to their way of life.
