You said you'd always be there

But you're nowhere to be found
I can't believe you left me

I feel so low beneath the ground
There's nothing I can do now

I trusted you with all my heart
But now you're gone

You're the one who tore my life apart
I've learned not to trust

There's nothing more to say
You've lost someone special

You can't get back each day
Now you're the one left in the dark

And all of a sudden you feel my pain
You expect me to take you back

But you still feel you're not to blame
I could never forgive you

Even if I tried
You can never make up

For the lonely nights I've cried
You will never know the feeling

Of losing the person you need the most
To laugh and cry and love you

Instead of making you feel like a ghost
I've moved on with my life

Without you by my side
My pain has kept so long

I'm telling you how I feel inside
In a way I want to thank you

Because of you I'm strong
I just wanted you to know

I didn't turn out wrong

I sat
And watched a tree grow today,
It stood
Where nothing was yesterday.
I saw
Leaves of brilliant green and gold,
It moved
Rustling gently in the cold.
I heard
Its rattling sigh of breath,
It knew
That I sat watching its death.
I cried
Tears that fell on empty earth,
It died
Before I knew its true worth.
I loathed
Its beauty forever gone,
It fell
Due to evil going on.
I hoped
And through the dirt I did sift,
It loved
Enough to leave me a gift.
I sat
And wondered what I should do,
It stood
In my heart where it first grew.
I saw
In my hand a tiny seed,
It moved
And my tortured soul it freed.

A mirror in a darkened room
with only fleeting bits of light,

has only gloomy shadows
to reflect, to answer, to return.

One comes before the mirror
full of light.

The mirror, in full brilliance then,
returns the precious gift.

We all are mirrors of a sort.
Some sharp and clear.

Others rather dark.
Some flawed with grief

or pain too great to bear.
But, in our way, we all reflect

what stands before us.
So then, when you gaze into

my glass,
my face,

my eyes,
my heart,

the image there is true.
You see yourself.

For I must reflect, answer and
return your precious gift to me

and dread the day you take your light
away.

Sleepless nights,
dreadful dreams,
are haunting me.

The mysterious sounds
of the night,
are very frightening me.

Panic and rage
Runs through my body
The devil is trying to get in.

Day after day
I fight off the urges
That would be so satisfying

A battle rages
Deep within my soul
It's all I can do to hold on.

Prayer is my weapon,
faith gives me peace of mind,
to stop the demons from taking over.

Depression knocks me down,
Grace picks me back up,
As the battle still rages

I pray and pray
For the fight to end
But I know the battle is still within.
