Question Any Ahmadiyya or Sunni Muslims out there?

    Report bad ads?

I'm trying to learn about Islam, especially the differences between worship for the Ahmadiyyas and Sunni Muslims.

My friend doesn't have a mosque but he has his "worship meetings" in a high school. He calls it Jammat. What does this mean? Usually he goes on a Saturday but sometimes on a Friday too. What is the muslim holy day? I think it's a Friday but I'm not sure why.

    What is Jalsa Salana?
What kind of things do you do when there? Do you pray and listen to a sermon? What do you call your priest? Are there different "priest" names for every Muslim sect?

Please give me as much info as possible about these two sects and the beliefs and also what are the most common Muslim sects besides Sunnis?

    Thank you!!!

Question What is a Maulvi Saab, Kalifa, Hazoor, Iman?

I forgot to add this to my other post so if someone could please tell me the differences between these leaders I would be very happy.

    Maulvi Saab
    Kalifa
    Hazoor
    Iman

What do they do exactly? All Muslims have these right? Or is it specific sects?

I am VERY interested in Islam. It's new to me and I really want to learn everything I can about the differences between Christian and Muslim leaders and worship. If you want to be Muslim how do you know which sect you should join? It's all very confusing!

Thank you so much to anyone that can help me.

Re: Any Ahmadiyya or Sunni Muslims out there?

let me make one thing clear, ahmadiyya are not muslims.the ahmadi sect emerged in 19th century in the sub continent under the leadership of mirza ghulam ahmad qadiani, who claimed himself to be a prophet.since according to islamic beliefs, the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the last messenger of God,and for one to be a muslim, one has to believe in Allah,(God),and accept Muhammad (PBUH) as his final messenger.this is the definition of being a muslim.in islam, anyone who claims to be a prophet, after Muhammad (PBUH) is termed as kazzab(great lier).since ahmadi accept mirza ghulam ahmed as the final prophet, they are kafir(non belilevers in islam),though they claim themselves to be muslims.in fact they have been declared non muslim by many islamic countries, including pakistan and saudi arabia.they cant even enter the muslim holy mosques (kaba and masjid-e-nabwi)in saudi arabia....so in a nut shell, ahmadiyya have nothing to do with islam really.their ways of worship may look similar to muslims, but they are kafir by definition.so muslims dont really bother to draw similarities between ahmadiyya and themselves.
whereas sunni is a large sect of muslims, from which a number of schools and subsects arise.basically, they have common faith more or less, but they might differ in secondary issues.
jammat means a group or gathering literally, people organize a group and then try to spread the word of islam by holding meetings, seminars, inviting people etc.yes friday is a muslim holy day, this day has a special significance in islam.muslims pray jumuah a special prayer on friday.this is an oppurtunity for muslims to get together.
jalsa salana is an urdu word,it means annual seminar.what people do there basically is invite people to islam and give sermons to deepen the faith of muslims.what they do their in detail depends on what sect you are talking about.,muslims normally call their priests imam, which means leader in arabic.almost all the sects use the same word.well,in indo pak, maulvi saab is a term used for someone who takes care of a mosque, leads prayers etc.by khalifa i suppose you mean khalifa in ahmadiyya, well they are people whom ahmadi believe to be appointed by "God" for "guidance of people" after their last false "prophet''.their dont exist khalifa in muslims anymore."hazoor" is a persian word, used in indopak to show some one respect.specifically,i think it might relate to ahmadi people, though i am not sure.by iman, you mean imam i think, who as i desdcribed is a religious leader....

Dear sister,i admire your curiosity about islam, but i strongly warn you against ahmadiyyah, they are misleading innocent people to their false religion under the guise of islam.THEY ARE NON MUSLIMS for all reasons.please beware not to be trapped by them.from what i can see of your post, may be you are being influenced by ahmadiyyah,,,you must be careful not to be mistaken that they are muslims.
if someone wants to convert to islam, one should recite quran, the final word of Allah, and seek guidance from it.it is not necessary to associate yourself to a particular sect,if you are sincere and curious about islam, you read quran and Allah will guide you to the right path.if you have any questions, feel free to ask.you are most welcome here.
    take care

    Wa`alykum As-Salaamu Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Dear sister in Islam, thanks for showing great keenness on understanding the teachings of your religion and we pray to Allah to keep us firm on the Straight Path.

As regards the question you posed, we quote for you the fatwa issued by Islamic Fiqh Academy on Qadyaniyyah, with slight additions from other sources. It goes as follows:

    Definition:

Qadyaniyyah (also known as Ahmadiyyah) is an Indian-based movement that was established under the patronage of the British colonial powers in 1900 for the aim of driving Muslims away from their religion and, most definitely, the religious duty of Jihad, which, they feared, might be used to stage rebellion against the British occupation. The mouthpiece of the movement was Religions, a magazine that was issued in English at that time.

    Dogmas and Ideology:

Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the movement, began his activities as an Islamic caller to attract as many supporters as he could. Later, he claimed himself a reformer and a divinely-inspired man. Afterwards, he said that he was the awaited Mahdi. Later on, he claimed prophethood and even said that his prophethood was much better than that of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

The followers of this group believe that Allah, Glorified be He, performs some acts befitting the mortals, like fasting, praying, sleeping, and even committing mistakes. But Allah Almighty is Far Exalted above what they say!

A Qadyani believes that his lord is English as he speaks to him in English. He also believes that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is not the seal of Prophets and that Allah Almighty sends new prophets according to time and need, and that Ghulam Ahmad is the greatest prophet. The followers of this sect also believe that Angel Gabriel used to come to Ghulam Ahmad and convey revelations to him. In addition, they say that the only accepted book is the book presented by Ghulam Ahmad, his words are the only accepted words and that all prophets stand under his control. Furthermore, they believe that their book, known as Al-Mubeen is a heavenly-revealed one.

They continue spreading their false ideas by saying that they have a new religion totally different from all other religions and that the companions of Ghulam Ahmad are like the Prophet’s Companions. Moreover, they say that Qadyan, their leader’s place of birth, is like, or even better than, Makkah and Madinah, so they take it as their prayer direction and a center of pilgrimage. They call for ignoring Jihad and showing complete obedience to the British empire, because it represents the ruler to whom obedience is due. To them, every Muslim is a Kafir (disbeliever) until he converts to their belief, and that anyone who marries a non-Qadyani is considered an unbeliever. They also allow wine, opium, intoxicants and drugs.

In 1914 the followers of Ghulam Ahmad were divided into two groups. The overwhelming majority of his followers belong to the first group known as Qadyanis and were headed by Bashiruddin Mahmud, the second successor of Ghulam Ahmad. The second group known as Lahori, and founded by Muhammad ‘Ali Lahori, is a minority among the followers of Ghulam Ahmad. The second group have a less striking tone of their principles by claiming that they do not believe in Ghulam Ahmad as a prophet in the real sense of the term but as Mujaddid (a renovator). However, they still believe him to be true in all other claims, which led Muslims to regard them also as outside the pale of Islam.

Qadianiyah in the Eyes of Muslims:

On the month of Rabi` Al-Awwal 1394 A.H. (April 1974 A.C.) a large conference was held in the Muslim World League headquarters in Makkah and was attended by many representatives of international Islamic organizations. The communiqué issued by this conference branded this group as Kafirs (unbelievers). It also recommended that all Muslims should stand to face this group and never deal with its members and not to bury them in Muslim cemeteries.

Moreover, Qadyaniyyah followers have good relations with Israel that helped them issue a special magazine (that stands as their mouthpiece) and many other pamphlets that are distributed all over the world.

    Conclusion:

Based on the above-mentioned facts, we can say that Qadyaniyyah is a deviant group that has nothing to do with Islam. Muslims are to be aware of them especially after they have been branded as Kafirs by all scholars.

Re: Any Ahmadiyya or Sunni Muslims out there?

    Hey,

Thanks for all the info. I never knew any of this. I have an Ahmadiyyaa friend who says that he is a Muslim Pakistani. Are there any other sects like this? People who think they're Muslim but are considered non-believers.

It would be interesting to know if there are any Ahmaddiyyaas in Saudi Arabia and how they're treated.

    This is very interesting stuff!
