What if we commit some sins?

    Report bad ads?

There are about 70 sins in islam and i was wondering that if commit specific sins (i chose Masturbation, Music and Pornography) will we be judged?

Note that i am not a Sunni or a Shia, i am a Muslim so you might have to check both sunni and shii sins.

    Thank you

70 sins? You think that since the beginning of creation till now there have only been 70 ways to disobey Allah?! There are more than just ways to go to hell fire!

You will be held accountable for everything you do, be it good or bad. You will also be questionable in front of Allah after you 'choose' to do a sin. You should never choose to do a sin, you should choose to run away from sins.

Would you choose to be punished? Never! You would choose the best and most choicest blessings of Allah so give Allah every reason to do so.

“Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart of each of those ones will be questioned (by Allaah)” [al-Israa’ 17:36]

And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The eye commits zinaa (fornication, adultery), and its zinaa is looking.” (narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-Isti’dhaan, 5774).

I suggest performing many good deeds, as good deeds abrogate the bad ones.
“And perform As Salaah (Iqaamat as Salaah), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salaah (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice)”[Hood 11:114]

“Till, when they reach it (Hell-fire), their hearing (ears) and their eyes and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do.

And they will say to their skins, ‘Why do you testify against us?’ They will say: ‘Allaah has caused us to speak.’ He causes all things to speak, and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return”
    [Fussilat 41:20-21]

If it so happens that you fall into sin in a moment of weakness, do not persist in that, rather be quick to repent to Allaah, lest you become one of those of whom Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And those who, when they have committed Faahishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allaah and ask forgiveness for their sins; — and none can forgive sins but Allaah — and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know”

    [Aal ‘Imraan 3:135]

“And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty) [al-Talaaq 65:2]
What if we commit some sins?

Those who believe and obscure not their belief by wrongdoing, theirs is safety; and they are rightly guided. (6:86)

Behold! verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. (10:62)

Re: What if we commit some sins?

There are several lists of sins that have been drawn up over the years, and one that specifically lists 70 are the major (kabir) sins.

If one commits a major (or minor) sin, they should make tawbah asap.

And tangentally, every muslim is either a sunni or a shia (or something else), even if they don't chose to own the label. You get your islam from somewhere, and that's either the Qur'an and the sunnah, as the sunnis have preserved it, or the Qur'an, the sunnah and the imams, as the shias have preserved it. Pretty darn hard to be just a muslim without relying on the sources preserved by either the sunni or the shia.

Re: What if we commit some sins?

“And whosoever disobeys God and His Messenger, then surely, for him is the fire of Hell, he shall dwell therein forever.” (Quran 72:23)

Does it matter how big (or maybe I should say, "how small") that disobedience is?

Are there any exceptions to this verse or ways to avoid the declared outcome?

Is this passage meant to be applied in a particular way to specific incidents or is it a universal truth applicable to all people at all times and in all places without exception, never to be abbrogated or circumvented for any reason?

if one commits blasphemy and dies without repentance , then s/he will go to hell forever.

For other sins like watch porno , one may be in fire for few weeks /months / years ---depends on will of God Almighty . If s/he is not guilty of worshipping other dieties than God , then one day , s/he will be forgiven and will enter Paradise.

    And God Knows Best.

Are sins like "watch porno" considered to be disobeying God and His Messenger?

Re: What if we commit some sins?

^Yes, there are many Ahadith that explicitly prohibit looking at private parts.

Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah reported upon the authority of Ali (ra) that The Prophet (saw) said,
“Do not show your thigh or look to the thigh of a living or dead person...”

Abu Dawud reported upon the authority of Bazz ibn Hakim (ra) that The Prophet (saw) said,
“Cover your awrah and don't let anybody see it except from your wives and your amma…" i.e. women under your control. And he (saw) was asked: "What if I am alone do I still have to cover it?" The Prophet (saw) replied: "You should feel more shame from Allah than from the people".

Muslim reported upon the authority of Ali ibn Abu Talib (ra) that The Prophet (saw) said,
"Man should not look at the awrah of another man, nor the woman to that of another woman..."
There is another hadith of the same authority and in the same book in which the Prophet (saw) says,
    "Do not walk naked".

Tirmidhi reported upon the authority of Aiesha (ra) that The Prophet (saw) said:,
"Any woman who changes her clothes outside of her home will destroy what is between her and Allah” i.e. that you are the servant who obeys and submits and He gives mercy.

Abu Dawud reported upon the authority of Abdullah Ibn Umar (ra) that The Prophet (saw) said,
"You will conquer the land of the Ajam and you will find there certain houses (called baths), man should not enter them without izar...” meaning covered from the navel to the knee.

Abu Dawud reported upon the authority of Yaa'la bin Umayah that the Prophet (saw) said,
"Allah always likes the shyness and likes those who have shame and cover and whoever takes a shower or ghusl then let him cover".

Re: What if we commit some sins?

So despite what this verse says: “And whosoever disobeys God and His Messenger, then surely, for him is the fire of Hell, he shall dwell therein forever.” (Quran 72:23)

It is actually possible to disobey God and His Messenger and not go to Hell forever. One might go for a time, but if one repents, then this verse is abroggated. Am I correctly understanding the collective wisdom of those who have responded? And is that indeed the actual understanding of Islam, or does it represent just the select few that have answered my question?

If you read the Quran you will also notice the following statement, and suggestiveness. But Allah knows best and in Him we Trust.

Allah is Most forgiving and merciful....he has the power to forgive anyone he wills.

which suggests to me that no matter how much badness you have done, if you are truely in repentance, and never go back to thoseways, after the light has dawned upon you, you have the Grace of Allah to look forward to...

Again Allah knows best, in Him we Trust.

Yes, this is what it seems that I am hearing. True repentance, done from the heart, and then lived out in life, is honored by Allah. But if that is true, then verses such as 72:73 which its declaration that "whosoever disobeys God and His Messenger, then surely, for him is the fire of Hell, he shall dwell therein forever" seems to become more of a threat than a promise. After all, If it were to be literally true, there would be little point in repentance for all those who are disobedient (even if you did repent) would still be destined for hell and would be kept there forever. That this is not the case can only mean that Allah is himself more merciful than his revealed word in the Qur'an.
