What is the Islamic view of intelligence? Is intelligence something that should be developed, and if yes, how?
The dramatic drop in intelligence in the modern world that I have seen in my lifetime greatly concerns me. I believe that one of the main causes of this is electronic entertainment which entertains the brain into passivity and atrophy. It seems to be that children should not be exposed to this mental poison. Instead, children should read and do puzzles and play games like chess or the game of Go.
Only a religion can promote the proper raising of children on a large scale. Both traditional Anabaptists and Orthodox Jews have the sense to keep modern mental poison out of the home. What is the Muslim position on this?
How do you define Islam? I can't think of how to define a religion other than what the religion's followers do. The scripture of a religion is something different from the religion itself. That is because any scripture needs interpretation.
Looking further at how constitutions work, how laws are implemented or shirked, how corruption, war, disease, economics, famine, all boiling down to the prevalence of justice, and injustice which play a huge part in shaping what is in contrast to what should be will probably help in getting a better understanding of the difference.

If you mean real and positive critical thinking - then great (although i'd warn you: real critical thinking and logical argumrnts would get you high in rank amongst people of interest on the P.R.E.V.E.N.T database, i remember reading an article about a decade back where a dude was banned from the mosque for saying -i quote the commitee spokesman's words to the paper as reported: "extreme things, like "the war in iraq was illegal"". Critically extreme negative self cencorship - tends to happen when you become aware of the amount of public money being handed to the false, treacherous and pretentious people overtly and covertly breathing down your neck and desperately seeking to get results so as to justify even more funding, the data collected on people is weird, especially when compared with the reasonings given to the public.).
If by critical thinking you mean attempting to make them feel insulted or belittled with illogical and incomplete arguments attempting to convince them that this universe and it's laws came from nothing and with no Causer and Tuner - keep your shoes nearby in case you need to run.
Although, one never knows the turn of events, they may even convince you to think critically too as a return favour
