In the first part; It first explains how marriages took place normally at a younger age in history throughout the world with sources and quick explanations as to why this occurred.
In the second part; It discusses the marriage of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to Aisha, and how she wasn't really a child at all with quotes from herself to prove her adulthood.
It further explains the concept is totally different to how you imagine. And what really is meant is that some pubescents do not get their periods early [i.e. some young woman may not get their periods uptill their 20s!], however - they have matured physically in every other way. So there will be no harm that will come to them if they were to get married and have sexual relations.
The author is a medical student and on his final stages to be a doctor (insha Allah), so he knows what he's saying.

I do get it, if people were not living in poverty there would high life expectancy and less pressure to marry at an early age and possibly less forced marriage (although this happens in the UK).

If the west were living in society where they had no age limit marriage maybe a study would be possible! Since they don’t, how do you suppose they conduct their study?

I don't mean to sound harsh & ask your forgiveness I think you're a great lady who is opinionated as many women are, I actually see where you're coming from, I don't agree that it will solve the problem however and I don't see the rational behind it holding much weight, religiously or scientifically. As for law enforcement of morality, well a society that breeds laws out of whimsy is one that doesn't hold much weightiness in my book!
Some colonial legislatures even passed "stubborn children laws," giving parents the legal right to kill unruly children. According to journalist Roger Rosenblatt, Massachusetts enacted a law in 1646 that allowed the death penalty for a rebellious child, though the law was never enforced ("The Society That Pretends to Love Children," New York Times Magazine, October 8, 1995).
so you can see where man made laws are a serious problem.. What seems correct today might not be 100 years from now. Allah swt has already given us Jurisprudence, sound judgment which believe me if followed parents wouldn't be selling off their kids at 8 nor would kids be popping out kids at 12 out of wedlock..

I simply dont approve 9, 10, 11 years old getting married even if they started puberty. I admit I was WRONG to say that about mentally challenged people. I never was a person to restrict anyone freedom to marriage. So, I apologise to anyone I offended.

Not really. Then again, who am I to judge? I have heard of young models marrying older men and older women marrying younger men. It's really none of my business. However, I would take issue with it a marriage if the women has not reached puberty and is not mentally capable...
Cousin marriage is not vile but is damaging if the same family goes again and again and again to their offspring.
I know but many western people find it gross. It's just an example to show how people's attitudes have changed.
