    Arab muslim women and foreigners

    Report bad ads?

As I'm studying for a degree that is in demand in arab countries, after graduation I'll probably go for a job there, so the question that normally comes to my mind is what is possibility of starting a family with local woman and settling there?
I believe it is quite against local customs, and not encouraged, so i wanted to hear your opinions on this. Would you as a brother/father approve such marriage, or as a woman go for it?

Re: Arab muslim women and foreigners

    Wa alaikum asalam

I guess it depends on which country you're planning on going to. A lot of parents in the arab world (and other parts of the world as well), would like their daughters to only marry within their country, or city even. In some parts of the arab world, parents are more lenient in general about this issue, and of course it also depends on the people themselves. I would say the biggest issue faces is not whether the woman would go for it, but whether the parents would approve or not.

So, some parents would not marry their daughters off to a foreigner, but there are also some that would, it all comes down to what Allah has decreed for you.

I am an arabic girl and my cousin is married to a foreigner .
She is happy with him ma shaa Allah.
Also when anybody asks for my hand my parents don`t worry a lot about his nationality
the most important thing for them r his religon, manneres and personality.
I don`t say that all famillys think like this but at least some of them do.

    Salaam,

I agree with crayon, it depends on he family and on which country you are talking about. If you plan to live in the same country the possibility of a positive answer is more.

Yes I think that KSA is the most conservative one in this question also UAE, Qater , Bahrein ,Kwait and all The gulf countreis r very conservative too.

While it`s easier in Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanone , Morraco and Jordan.

But I gess u r looking to work in one of The gulf countreis ,don`t worry a lot brother ,this countreis containes people from deffrent nationalities as most of the employeres there r n`t from the same country ,and so u will be able in shaa Allah to marry one there from any nationality.

Re: Arab muslim women and foreigners

UAE is a big NO NO!....one girl in my electronics class shes from pakistan, was asking this guy from the UAE that her friend fell in love with this emarati boy and he too was feeling the same and blah blah....but she posed the uncomfortable question to the guy saying that why did her friend get rejected by the guy's mother??....and why so badly???......i then turned around in a my usual joker manner and said to my friends ....'' if she only knew what the pakistani's go through from being restricted to driving yellow taxi's and building huge sky scrapers in few months like they're some sort of fairy tale dwarf builders'' she would of not asked that question!

im not sure about ksa but i guess it all the same...the gulf is engulfed with this sort of thing

Re: Arab muslim women and foreigners

it is gaining more acceptance nowadays, I have seen some people marrying their daughters to foreigners. some people were originally even non arab then settled in the gulf for some time, after a generation or two many are completely 'arabs' and citizens of those countries, those would on average be more open to such marriages than others. to make a sweeping generalization, the coastal areas are more open than inalnd, although it isn't a rule of thumb..

Re: Arab muslim women and foreigners

I think it shouldn't matter. I think the main and possibly the only questions that should be asked when marriage is proposed is the persons Fear of Allah SWT and his level of commitment to the deen of Islam and vice versa. If the Faith is strong then everything else will fall into line, and why wouldn't you want to go to KSA for e.g, Atleast you know you can bring up your kids amongst a muslim population with islamic law.

Re: Arab muslim women and foreigners

In Lebanon, it's not a problem. My parents would approve of me marrying a foreigner. And I already have many cousins and know some people who are married to foreigners...
