How do you do it? (OP)

    Hi everyone

I was thinking about Ramadan today and I wondered how you guys cope with being hungry during your fasting.

If I miss a meal, I find myself getting irritable and grumpy very quickly and sometimes even make quite irrational decisions.

I really admire anyone who can go all day without eating until evening, it's quite an amazing achievement for so many days....

I am curious to know, how do you get through this? Do you have your own psychologial techniques? Do you find yourself becoming irritable/emotional etc or does determination override this?

    Thank youuuuu! :thankyou:

Of course there are people who can get in the habit of thinking in the way of enjoying themselves in this world, but I genuinely enjoy fasting and praying, and it does not matter what I haven't been able to do in the Day in other issues as long as I have prayed and pray the missed prayers during the day, I am happy. As that is all I need to do per day at least, remember and worship Allah and remember the Last Day.

I am in my 6th fast and I am happy.

We are willing to eat and do things that make us happy we should also be happy with being Muslims without being able to eat too. I don't force myself not to eat, but happy not to eat.

Even in the Quran there is a story of people praying to Allah when they are on a ship whilst they are in a storm, but when they are brought safely to land they are neglectful of remembering Allah. So they are only happy with Allah when he provides them with something.

How many people make excuses in this world if I did not have the support I need I turn to crime, (which of course are lies), if their government etc does not give them what they want they complain, but they don't talk more of when the goverment does well, but remember their faults more. So people have to show that they are good, Islam is not like a football team when they are more successful.

That is why the Jews were criticised at the time of Prophet Moses peace be upon him for even complaining about not have more types of food, saying that they are not willing to fight and let the Prophet Moses peace be upon him fight for them (which is why people can say Islam is successful as Muslims supported Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and did not treat him as if he is going to make their life better in this world). If we wanted riches, then simply people would not join the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him he lived simply. So we did not become Muslims to enjoy and be happy here but in the next world. We do not differienate between the Prophets, we talk more about Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him as we had the benefit of his teachings.

Even it has been mentioned that the Muslims is like a Date Palm Tree, and it does not need much to survive. It still can stand and be strong.

It is not hard to think that way as this world is limited and the amounts of evil, I would not want to live here for a long time. Thank Allah that in Paradise, it is clean wherever you may go, and you are genuinely accepted and cared for, not like the treatment that peopl like to get in the West were they go on holiday and want to be treated well, well people don't actually care about them, and at least you don't have to pay people in Paradise to be kind to you.

They are happy to mention Allah more if something goes wrong in their lives and actually say why would he allow this to happen, but they don't rememeber him when they are busy eating the variety of citrus fruits etc. So we do it with what we believe, not what our stomachs would prefer, but stomach does not feel hungry when you are remembering Allah and the Last Day.
