In Ramadan it's a tradition to eat a lot of food in Iftar after fasting. I am worried that I would not be adhering to Islam if I didn't follow what prophet Muhammad(S) did.
I know he(S) had dates, but did he eat any other food in Iftar? Also would it be against the spirit of Ramadan (even if it's not Haram) to eat tasty food in Iftar?
Any halal food can be ate at iftar and the sunnah is to break the fast with dry or fresh dates if available. If dates are not available, then with water. thereafter you can eat any halal tasty food you want
Another sunnah is not to gorge yourself, and leave a little bit of your tummy empty
