Assalam ualaykum all

Just a quick recap about events in the last week or so inshallah -

Alhumdulillah Things Seems to be going Well..(with the exception of minor bugs i.e styles not showing correctly or certain functions not working) my main aim for the time being is to restore normality back to this forum i.e Loading times, Speeds Stability etc

HOWEVER im gonna be honest with you guys since this has been such a headache for me I personally im not very happy at the Server that has been given to me by our New Provider

Its Based in UK - Reason why i moved it over is one in terms of Speed especially for myself things that took me 30 mins to do i.e uploading files upgrading forum i can now do it in 5 mins which means if i have to close down the forums it wont be for long

Secondly Because of the Server Specification i was offered i.e This server the spec i got was 3 GIG RAM (HOwever as of today Friday evening The Server is running on 2 GIG RAM) Was suppose to put extra 1 GIG RAM in today but i got told it will be on Sunday now..so for those experiencing lightning speeds now once we puit that extra GIG ram in on sunday Inshallah (which im still waiting for over 1 week) Then it should Speed Things Up even more.....

however in Terms of Stability I personally from a TEchnical Point of View not very Happy......


So this is whats gonna happen - i know people are gonna Bite my head off cos of what im gonna say and maybe even get some "Oh No Not Again" but the Dreaded word "Server move back to USA" LOL

Im not ruling this out Completeley......Im gonna give it till Perhaps Tuesday / Wednesday and see how things pan out if im not satisified with things then Im moving Islamicboard back to America.....The Server I have my eye on there will be 2wice as fast as this place and has a Dual Processor with RAID 1 (Which means it will be running off 2 Hard Drives..if one hard Drive fails then it will switch to HD 2 and carry on Running) - and whopping 4 GIG RAM which makes it even more powerful then Ummah.com Which means it will Cost more the Server unfortunately 2wice as what we are paying at the moment here...

If we Do Decided to move i will make sure we dont lose anything Inshallah - last time was just unfortunate....!

When we Acquired Islamicboard Last June - the server only had 1 GIG RAm in it - as you know with Forums they grow and dont die down especially with Islamicboard alhumdulillah! since then I had to move the server to something more powerful this is why you hear me saying Server moves over and over again - because we simply need to move on to something more powerful that can handle the forum......Only reasons which im taking these major decisions is to make things powerful ....


Another thing which i found out today some of you m ay find that using ELEMENT skin you may find its looks Weird........Yes im aware of that and this is due to the Verson of Vbulletin we are running.........ELEMENT skin the one we have at the moment is designed for Vbulletin 3.6.X Version..Islamicboard at the moment is Running 3.7.X which means it wont go down too well........HOWEVER there is a skin that is compatible for latest verison which once the final Vbulletin is released i shall go ahead and get the skin and implement it......


Just to Assure you we not the type just to walk away from Islamicboard like this and give it up totally......over the last 7 months or so we have continuously strived to make sure user experience is the best - some areas we have failed and some alhumdulillah we have accomplished......Im not the type that will do something half and just walk away....im gonan make sure inshallah i fix everything right till the end!!!!!!! We been running ummah.com for over 8 years now and inshallah next task is to ensure Islamicboard becomes a huge and popular forum on the Internet!!! Inshallah!

I fully understand the fustration of all the problems - for us its like pulling my hair out - managing a webserver and websites is not easy takes a lot of work to perfect everything Even today one week one we still have not managed to transfer load-islam.com over!!!!!!
Changes may happen - in terms of technical.....regarding teh way how this forum is run i mentioned at the beginning we not gonna interfere with how moderators moderate this place as far as we are concern (Muslimdot) we have not intervened in how the mods run this board - we just let them do it and support them if needed..we only here part of Technical and ensuring the users get the best experience!!
