    When forgetfulness is a curse

Had the trauma of this long Day, the Day of Judgement, been recalled moments before the sin was perpetrated, you can be quite sure that it wouldn't have been.

Many complain of friends who don’t pray, and ask for an effective bit of advice to relay onto them. You find better advice than “remind them of the hereafter”

Another may complain of a relative who insists on abandoning the Islamic Hijab, enquiring about an effective remedy to this dilemma. You wont find a better remedy than “remind them of the hereafter”

Similarly, a third may express grief at the progress of a new Muslim who had recently accepted Islam but is evidently slipping off the mark. The answer to all of these difficult questions and others is -

    “Remind them of the hereafter”

This is why Allah SWT says:
    وَيـلٌ لِلْمُطَفِفِينَ* الذينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى الناسِ يَستَوفُون* وَإذَا كَالُوهُم أوْ وَزَنَوُهُم يُخْسِرُون* ألا يَظـُنُ أُولئكَ أنَهُم مَبْعُوثُون؟!* لِيَومٍ عَظِيمٍ؟!* يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النـاسُ لِربِ العَالَمِينَ

“Woe to those who give less than due.
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.
But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.
(Pay attention to the next Ayah) Do they not think that they will be resurrected?
    For a tremendous Day.
The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?”

It’s almost as if we’re being told about these defrauders - who give less than due but take their rights from people in full - that had they believed in the hereafter and expected its arrival, they most certainly would not have cheated people!

Therefore being the responsible person whom you are, one who craves what is best for himself and others, know that you will not find a more effectual means of reforming others, dissuading them from sins and spurring them on to give Allah their everything than the reminding of the Last Day, for it is the technique which the Qur’an has employed!
