Virtual Reality: Halal or Haram?

Virtual reality is a new to the world. Like all things, it should be used in moderation. Is internet halal? depends, are you using it for something useful or looking up porn? It all depends on your intentions and the use of such technologies.

I see, cuz I am quite interested, although it isn't as advanced as I'd like it. One down side would be that the government would use capitalism, luring people into the games locking them in the game with no log out option.

So it is disliked? I will wait for Jannah then. That is the True Reality. In shaa' Allah we will all get there. I am struggling. may Allah grant us safety. Ameen.

The life of a person is extremely short; it's over before they know it. The Hukamaa (Wise Men) used to say that if you wake up in the morning, don't expect to live long enough to reach the evening. If you reach the evening, don't expect to live long enough to reach the next morning. When you breathe in, don't expect to live long enough to breathe out. Live every day as though it were your last day on earth (because one day very soon it really will be, and you wouldn't even have expected it).

The life of a person shouldn't be squandered in futility. Entertainment, playing games, etc. is permissible - within bounds of the Sharee`ah and without too much time being devoted to it.

Virtual Reality and stuff like that causes a person to waste his life away in an imaginary world while his own life drains without him realising it. Imagine it's your last day on earth and you wasted it in a Virtual Reality game.

A person's life is like a block of ice that's been placed out in the sun on a very hot day in summer; it's rapidly melting away. You have to make the most of it before it's over and time to move to the Aakhirah.

How much are we preparing for our Aakhirah? Forget the Dunyaa; it's nothing. In Jannah, you can play forever if you want. You can do whatever you want, with whoever you want, for as long as you want, because there is no "time".

What is with Allaah Ta`aalaa is far better than any Virtual Reality games.

Someone once asked Shaykh Anwar al-`Awlaqi رحمة الله عليه if there will be Xbox in Jannah, so he said yes. Allaahu A`lam. A person will get whatever they want in Jannah. There are no limits.

Well it is not Related tonscholarly islam etc. Current VR applications are not even semi realistic. Cannot move in VR, I know htc headset allows us to but only in such a amall space that it is practically useless in adventrue games such fallout 4 etc. Tried Google cardboard vomited once and commited never to try again.

Also VR is a luxury isnt it? Costs like $500 to build a minimum requirment PC then the headsets costs like 600 to 1200 even. Islam does discourage us from luxuries. Then again you can share the headset to the poor for free for them to experience this. To contrary VR also allows for us to practise driving or surgery before performing them in real life (Not accurately tho but still) saving potential accidents and deaths.

It is not haram IMO just not worth it to lose your sleep over. Wait for 6 years and we should see at least zero latency displays with legs and arm tracking and cheaper prices and powerful PC then id say we should be concerned about wether it being lawful or not.

I think I will commit myself to becoming a better Muslim. Sure, I like Virtual Reality (having to act out your imagination) but it is just too limited, bugs, etc.

In Jannah I will have much better, what I want will be reality, rather than just imagination.

I am struggling with Tawheed and Shirk, I will ignore any waswass. I realise that what we desire, will never be fulfilled in this world. What was exciting 2 years ago isn't now, etc. we always move towards wanting better and more.

InshaAllah, Jannah is for eternity - there would be virtual reality there like no other, which no human on earth would ever be able to achieve.

Sometimes this life here in the dunya seems so long and especially when we're young we feel like we have a very long time, but as the shaykh said we could leave this earth at any time. And when you think about it, some small sacrifices on this earth for a life of bliss in Jannah seems like such a little thing. Allah swt has made attainting His mercy so easy, we just make it hard for ourselves.

And yes true desires will never be attained here, this dunya isn't our home, and we'll always long for our true place with Allah swt. And you're right, in two years you can change a lot and your perspective on things. SubhanAllah I am so different to my 15-16 year-old self - you can change a lot in so little time...inshaAllah for the better.

May Allah swt give us the qualities of the people of Jannah. Ameen.

I just fear failure. :/ I know my flaws.. I know Islam, I know Tawheed, I know Shirk. I know Islam is pure monotheism, and that only by worshipping Allah alone can one stay Muslim. Etc. Read my signature. Idk why I have this obsession with definition of shirk. I fear falling into it.

I noticed your signature - and this fear you have will always stop you from falling into shirk inshaAllah. I think sometimes you doubt yourself more than you need to, but again that'll stop you from falling into pride or anything like that, and will allow you to keep a check on your actions - which we all need to do anyway.

I know what shirk is then. Obviously. Alhamdulillah. I need to stop worrying. I worship Allah alone and I know worshipping anyone or anything besides Allah will take you out of Islam, as it is shirk akbar.
