I am 28yo amercian girl with usa field hockey team in London - living with a great Bangladeshi fmaily while here training but they have introduced me to islam and say I am ready to convert as does Imam but I am worried about my family in usa while the family here are totally supportive. Some Bd friends suggest I come here and talk to others and women in particular about it.
Thanks - i have grown up in a sports backgrund which is all about intoerance to others and denying Islam all the time. I havebeen so tied up in my sport that i have always lazily accpetd this version but just by chance ending up livig with a muslim family and being immersed in this culture has opened my eyes totally. They have embraced me without criticism for the way i can changing and transforming. The imam said i was ready to convert few weeks ago and not to delay and he will speak with sports authorities abut my decision but I realise I guess that the dress is not sensitive. The family here are totally supportive and help me with new names ready for conversion Khadia tul Kobrha - all the Ks cos I am Kelsey Katherine now hhh. The family say they will support me wit new job once quite usa hockey.

The Iman you refer to is correct. The important is for you to accepts Allah word's of wisdom and to convert to save yourself. After all, we never know when the day of judgement may come and what lies in our future, even tomorrow.
Changing the way you dress, your name and the type of activities you do are secondary. Those changes will come in due time when you are ready and want to. But thinking about having to do these changes should not delay your decision to convert.
InshaAllah you will accept Islam. I am a revert and the only muslim in my family.
Altough I am not blessed with a supportive muslim family, they are not necessarily anti Islam. It has been 4 years and I have no regret whatsoever about being a muslimah.
I am leaving you a few hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa salaam
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) but his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or Magainism.
As an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?"
Then Abu Huraira recited the holy verses of Qur'an : "The pure Allah's Islamic nature (true faith of Islam) (i.e. worshipping none but Allah) with which He has created human beings.
No change let there be in the religion of Allah (i.e. joining none in worship with Allah). That is the straight religion (Islam) but most of men know, not." (30.30)
(Sahih al Bukhari)
It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'If a person accepts Islam, such that his Islam is good, Allah will decree reward for every good deed that he did before, and every bad deed that he did before will be erased.
Then after that will come the reckoning; each good deed will be rewarded ten times up to seven hundred times. And each bad deed will be recorded as it is, unless Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, forgives it.'
(Sunan an Nasa'i)
Narrated Talha bin 'Ubaidullah: A man from Najd with unkempt hair came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and we heard his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying, till he came near and then we came to know that he was asking about Islam.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "You have to offer prayers perfectly five times in a day and night (24 hours)." The man asked, "Is there any more (praying)?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No, but if you want to offer the Nawafil prayers (you can)."
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) further said to him: "You have to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." The man asked, "Is there any more fasting?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No, but if you want to observe the Nawafil fasts (you can.)"
Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) further said to him, "You have to pay the Zakat (obligatory charity)." The man asked, "Is there any thing other than the Zakat for me to pay?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No, unless you want to give alms of your own."
And then that man retreated saying, "By Allah! I will neither do less nor more than this." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If what he said is true, then he will be successful (i.e. he will be granted Paradise)."
(Sahih al Bukhari)
Jabir bin 'Abdullah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:'A slave (of Allah) shall not believe until he believes in Al-Qadar, its good and its bad, such that he knows that what struck him would not have missed him, and that what missed him would not have struck him." (Jami 'at Tirmidhi)
