Dua means act of supplication. It is calling out to God; it is a conversation with God, our Creator, our Lord, the All Knowing, and the All Powerful. Dua is uplifting, empowering, liberating and transforming and it is one of the most powerful and effective act of worship a human being can engage in. Dua has been called the weapon of the believer. It affirms a person’s belief in One God and it shuns all forms of idolatry or polytheism. Dua is essentially submission to God and a manifestation of a person’s need for God. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:
In this thread I will try to share one dua hopefully everyday (Insha'Allah). But to start I think it is best to first memorize duas recommended for our day to day activities such as before going to sleep, after awakening from sleep, before entering the toilet, after leaving the toilet, before making wadu, after completion of wadu, before leaving the house etc. In short, there are a variety of activities that a person undertakes in the daily routine. No matter whichever activity is undertaken, it is imperative that the help and blessings of Allah Almighty be asked for it and if there is a proper Dua available for it, then it must be memorized and recited while performing the activity.
Below is a link to an app which has several duas for daily activities, as well as some morning and afternoon azkar, duas after completion of Salah, duas one may need during hajj and Umra and 40 duas from quranic verses. This is a highly recommended app for anyone who want to live every moment of their life in remembrance of Allah Suhanahu Wa Taala:

Below are some hadiths of our loved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regarding dua:When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me.[Quran, 2:186].
The most excellent worship is Dua. [Sahih Al-Jami` # 1133]
Nothing is more honourable to Allah the Most High than Dua. [Sahih al-Jami` # 5268]
Abu Huraryah (Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:The supplication of every one of you will be granted if he does not get impatient and say, `I supplicated my Lord but my prayer has not been granted’.[Sahih Bukhari & Muslim]
The renowned Islamic scholar Imam Ibn al-Qayyim described dua in the following way. He said:The closest a slave is to his Lord is while he is in a state of prostration, so increase you supplications [therein]. [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Nasa`i, Ahmad]
The Dua and prayers for seeking refuge with God are like a weapon, and a weapon is only as good as the person who is using it; it is not merely the matter of how sharp it is. If the weapon is perfect and free of faults, and the arm of the person using it is strong, and there is nothing stopping him, then he can lay waste to the enemy. But if any of these three features is lacking, then the effect will be lacking accordingly.
