Don’t be despair of the mercy of Allah SWTat all!

Hadith of the Day

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ مِائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ كُلُّ رَحْمَةٍ طِبَاقَ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ فَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا فِي الأَرْضِ رَحْمَةً فَبِهَا تَعْطِفُ الْوَالِدَةُ عَلَى وَلَدِهَا وَالْوَحْشُ وَالطَّيْرُ بَعْضُهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ أَكْمَلَهَا بِهَذِهِ الرَّحْمَةِ ‏"( Al-Mishkatul Masabeeh)‏

The holy Qur’an makes mention, “SAY: “[Thus speaks God:] ‘O you servants of Mine who have transgressed against your own selves! Despair not of God’s mercy: behold, God forgives all sins - for, verily, He alone is much-forgiving, a dis-penser of grace!’ ” Az-Zumar (The Groups) 39:53

These verses reveal about the great mercy of Allah SWT, that if some faithful believer wrongs, transgresses against himself, then he/she should not despair of the mercy of Allah! Because Allah SWT can forgive all of his sins if he does not commit ‘shirk’ i.e. ascribing partners to Allah SWT.

The holy Qur’an makes mentions in surah (Yusuf (Joseph) , “O my sons, go forth and try to obtain some tidings of Joseph and his brother; and do not lose hope of God's life-giving mercy: verily, none but people who deny the truth can ever lose hope of God's life-giving mercy” 12:87).

These verses reveal that only the disbelievers lose hope of the mercy of Allah and not the faithful believers.

As regares the hadith, so Salman reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:

Verily, Allah created, on the same very day when He created the heavens and the earth, one hundred parts of mercy. Every part of mercy is coextensive with the space between the heavens. and the earth and He out of this mercy endowed one part to the earth and it is because of this, that the mother shows affection to her child and even the beasts and birds show kindness to one another and when there would be the Day of Resurrection, Allah would make full (use of Mercy).

This hadith reveals that Allah SWT has divided His mercy into hundred parts and ninety nine parts He put with Himself and only one part bestowed to the entire creation. While the remaining parts will be shown at the Day of Judgment when innumerous people will be forgiven their sins and be entered Paradise. So the Muslims should be hopeful of Allah’s mercy and not be despair of it.
